Neomet
Okay, Ms. Neomet had Lasik Thursday. Today's exam is 20/20. No problems, loving life and wants to shoot tomorrow's match. The doc was kinda vague about what she shouldn't do. Nothing "too vigorous". Clearly, no 300 lb deadlifts or marathons but she is a recreational level shooter and the furthest she will need to run is 10 yards and then wait an hour for the next stage. Anyone with experience going to a match right after surgery??
Skydiver
I shot my evening plates league about 3 days after lasik and a match a week after. I did wait at least two weeks before jumping out of an airplane. Tell her to bring 2x the number for moisture drops. Bring handi-wipes to clean hands before applying moisture drops. Here's hoping that she stays at 20/20! My day after and week after exams were at 20/15, but settled on 20/20 after about 2 weeks. hvsmith
I would suggest waiting at least 1 week, for me the biggest improvement with sight & dryness was between 10-14 days. Six years later & I'm still 20/15. I also would suggest using Systane eye drops after she has is cleared from the doctor. I tried a few & this one works best for me. Skydiver
+1 on the Systane!
Youngeyes
Skip the match. Too much chance of dust or grit or a slip causing a finger in the eye etc. I don't clear a patient until after a minimum 1 week post op. Longer depending on proceedure type(PRK vs LASIK)and risk level of activity(watching TV vs demolition derby). She's got a lifetime of good vision ahead of her. There'll be other matches. Neomet
Thanks guys! We will pass. She is just super eager because she couldn't shoot for the last two weeks since no contacts. The doc did give her Systane. Good to know it works well.

I had mine done in 2005 and the doc had me on the flax oil for a few weeks before and after just in case. Thera tear gel eye drop as great as well. Skydiver
Since you'll have a day suddenly free, plan for a an evening date and a drive at night. She might as well find out early if she's among the people who see halos around lights and other bright objects at night. It'll give her a baseline to compare against as her eye heal over the next few weeks. And besides, she'll think you are a stud for taking her out on a date. P.S. Remember: nothing "too vigorous". Neomet
She got started on fish oil which the doc recommended to help prevent dryness. Yeah, we got the "too vigorous" lecture.
