1911Prof
I need to take some photos of my open gun with a sizeable fireball from the comp. What kind of powder generates the most impressive comp flash?
Sarge
Most of the Vit powders do. 3N37 does a nice job.
gng4life
Power Pistol is pretty good too...I think Longshot does too but I can't remember for sure
JRBean
3N37 or N350 depending on comp and ports
Sarge
Power Pistol is pretty good too...I think Longshot does too but I can't remember for sure Oh Right. I forgot about Power Pistol. A local guy runs it in his limited gun and it flashes better than all the Open guns.

CocoBolo
I worked the dark house at Double Tap in 2008 the biggest flash comes from 3N38. It is not every shot it is about every 3rd or 4th shot it flames up big time.

AzYooper
I was trying 115gr bullets with VV 3N38 and had very large fireballs. I had them loaded for major power factor so the bullets were travelling about 1490 fps. I think that with the slow burning powder and fast speed of the bullet a lot of the powder was burning just above the comp, causing the flash. Yeah, the comp "stockpiles" unburned powder then periodically cleans itself out.

GrumpyOne
Shouldn't VV N105 have a ferociuos flash I shoot 10.5 of N105 with a 115 in my super, and I've never noticed any flash, nor has anyone commented to me about seeing a flash.
eric nielsen
Most of the posts on here are correct. N105 didn't give me much flash at all but was incredibly loud - ppl would say "I thought your gun was going to give me a heart attack" - loudest thing ever until I tried Longshot. 3N37 gave me a lot of flame-balls but not consistently (different charges behind different bullets might have a small flash); Power Pistol had some of the nicest dot-tracking, easily made Major with no pressure signs, soft... I'd use it today if it wasn't for the flame-balls brighter than the Sun.

It was so flashy, I had my friend at the indoor range turn off the lights and let me pop a few rounds off. It looked like lightening inside the range. When I turned around after firing, I couldn't see my friend through the bullet proof glass.....cause he was on his knees crying from laughing so hard. pistolen patje
Every gun is different. So every gun run its best on a different powder. My first open gun was a 9mm and he was at his best with vvn320. Then a frend build a 38 super with sti parts en that one was running at its best with vv3n38 at 9.2 grain form ipsc major. When that one was stolen from me i ran the same load in an sps 38 super open gun but that was a flame thrower aswel so back to the reloadingtable and vv3n37 was the best for that setup. Now i have a second hand svi with no hybride and this runs at its best with vvn340 with no fireballs.
DerrickJ
I use Power Pistol for my Production gun, and the flash is visible on video in the daylight. That stuff is flashy as hell.
