empire12369
Just tested the Remington 1oz Slug out of my FN SLP and shot two 5 shot groups at 50 yards. Each of the groups was about 5inches. Is my search for accurate slugs over? Mind you point of impact was about a foot high on both groups. I also test the Winchester Ranger 1oz Slugs and had two failure to feeds which sucks because they grouped better at 50 yards.

Try Fiochi slugs they shoot about 8 inches low for me compared to Federal reduced recoil slugs at 50 yards. Pat
jdknotts1
Depending on what the velocity is, the 12" high at 50 may work out to dead hold at 100yds. Out of a smooth bore shotgun, 5" at 50yds is pretty good. I dont get much better if any at all with my Winchester Super X. Main reason I chose those slugs was the basically dead hold at 50-100yds. No aiming high or aiming low. Just dead on. I do pay for it a bit because the recoil is slightly higher than most others. Spits the 1oz slug at 1600fps. But with the low frequency of slug shots, I'll take it for the one less thing to have to think about after the buzzer goes off.
FishingFool
Before I sold it mine loved federal low recoil slugs. The m2 liked the fiocchi better. Sent using Tapatalk
StephensOutdoors
They're smooth bore slugs, not sabbots in a rifled barrel ... people are going to say that you can do better but my opinion, for what its worth, free standing, 3" - 6" is acceptable at 50 yards & be able to hit a 2/3 size IPSC steel at 100 yards. Biggest thing I find is to really concentrate on & practice squeezing smooth shots off that trigger. Choke selection might be something you can play with. Height: I'm shooting Rem Reduce Power slugs & I have to really bury the front sight (almost below the rear sight notch) to be on at 50 yards with my SLP. empire12369
I think I'm gonna pick up some Fiocchi 7/8oz and see how they group just to make sure I'm making the right choice before I place a bulk order. I guess the consensus is you sacrifice recoil for holdover out of smooth bore guns.
FishingFool
Change your front sight if you have to. I can't remember the model number but I changed it out on my fnh slp with a marbles replacement and my poi=poa.
