sig2009
Anyone know what is going on with this? I started reloading 38 super and when I index the plate to the next station the base of the case is up tight against the button and I have to force it to clear the button. Doesn't matter what brass manuf I use. I am using the Dillon 9mm/38 super shell plate and buttons. Edited July 31, 2012 by sig2009
A63111
Just to be sure, #5 shellplate and #3 Button. Sounds like one of the 2 pieces is not correct.
Sumtoc
I had this same problem and just pulled the brass buttons and replaced them with the next size smaller. Works fine. Will chuck them up in a drill or Dremel and take a little off the edges when I have some time. Gonna need to make em smooth though......

Going to give Dillon a call. Also this is 38 super brass and not supercomp which I know takes the .223 shellplate.

sig2009
I just spoke with Dillon and he said he had never heard of this before. He told me to try the #2 buttoms from 38 spcl or 40 S&W which are slightly smaller. Going to try them now.
WaltMel
Sig, the dia. of the #3 button is 0.370", and if you lay a straight edge across the opening of the shellplate #5, the depth is 0.325" from the straight edge to the small dia. of the opening of the plate. This will give you an idea which component is your problem. Edited July 31, 2012 by WaltMel
GrumpyOne
I think I use the #2 button. The #3 button works, but it is tight. Edit to add: I remember why now... My super rounds are loaded so full, that the little snap with the #3 button caused powder to fling out. Edited July 31, 2012 by GrumpyOne

The #3 buttons are too larger so you have to use the #2 buttons. Problem solved.

My super rounds are loaded so full, that the little snap with the #3 button caused powder to fling out. You must be using that fluffy, not stuffy powder! Just wondering, what powder/bullet are you running that fills the .38 super case that full? BTW - I use the #3 buttons on my 550 without a problem, but they are really old and probably have shrunk with age!

Fills the case to about 1/8" from spilling out.
