GMB
Going to order one myself to find out if it will work with the CC magwell. If anyone already has the answer please advise.
RIIID
Brian, I tried to order one today but they are out of stock already. I was doing it to see if they are compatible to my mag wells, I guess they didn't make very many on their first run. Rich

Ordered some as soon as they went up for sale. PLEASE let us know if they work on some of the magwell's out there. They also stated that a ICE magwell is to follow these base pads. Landeeno
Jimmy ive been hearing about a new magwell coming from them...I dont know how to attach a magwell better than my unlimited is already connected without making it permanent but if there was a magwell with a backstrap with lower profile I sure wouldnt mind giving it a try, somthing that sits lower on the grip...I'm not complaining about mine because I love it but I've got huge hands and whenever I could free up a little extra room then I'd try it out. Landeeno
But dawson did call me yesterday afternoon and I should have my pads within a week. I will be able to tell if they work with the unlimited magwell and I'll also be able to give a comparison to the arrendondo base pads. I can tell you up front I'm excited to try them out, I had an arredondo spring take a $hit on me within 40 rounds, so they already have me hesitant. But I will give an unbias review. And I will abuse these pads right outta the gate (practicing reloads and dropping on hard pack etc, not throwing them against a brick wall) to test them out, Im all about products that work and if I can depend on them after abusing them then I'm more than willing to order more, I already have a practically new mag and ordered another from dawson with my pads so there will be no excuses for anything. Im anxious to see how well there design does when dropping on hard pack, from the pics and descriptions it looks promosing but that latch coming un done is a small concern. But all in all this is my first experiece with dawson and I couldnt be happier, they called me numerous times before id got off work trying to make sure everything was exactly how id wanted all shipping was correct etc... GMB
who's spring and follower come with the Dawson base pads?
GMB
I prefer the CC magwell, I like the extra weight it gives me on the gun. I ran the Pistolgear for a long time and it worked fine but I like the added weight of Rich's product.
Landeeno
I wasnt even aware it came with another follower? Ive been considering getting some grams guts but havnt heard anything from anyone who has them? And I could definitly dig trying another magwell, I just dont shoot with anybody who has a setup XDM so what I buy is what I get to try.
RIIID
The way I read the part description you will use the factory follower with the spring provided. That will loose one round in capacity right off the bat. Rich

kcobean
I shot a match with my pair this weekend. Just stuck the new springs on the existing followers, put the extensions on and headed for the range. Used them every stage and not a single malfunction. I will say I only ran the mag dry on two stages. The only potential flaw I see is that the follower doesn't sit "flat" on the spring so there is a little drag as it moves up the mag body. You'll definitely want to keep your mags clean to avoid any stuck ammo. Able to get 22 in a 9mm mag and 19 in a .40 mag. GMB
Still waiting to hear if anyone has tried the Dawson pads with a CC magwell.
RIIID
The DP pad will work with the CC mag well, I checked both styles of wells that I have produced for the M's. The spring that comes with the pad uses the factory follower so it will hold two less rounds that is possible with the Grams spring and follower(21 and 24 rds). A cautionary note when using an unmodified frame, with a slide lock reload the magazine can make contact with the ejector when using the DP pad. This will not happen using the CC pad as it fits into the frame like a stock base pad and stops over insertion. I will be doing more testing and comparisons later between the DP and CC base pads. Landeeno
Well they are in, they are installed, and they are fully loaded trying to losin the spring just a hair, the 19th round is VERY difficult to get loaded. No testing with shooting just yet but from what I can already tell. 1. Very very beefy, and seem to be made with quality, quite nice compared to the Arredondo. 2. Compared to the Arredondo these are heavy 3. They work just fine with the pistol gear unlimited Magwell To follow up on riches last post, I'd have to agree. It will hit the ejector with the slide locked back, now let's talk about that! Because I know a damaged ejector is gonna put you out of a gun for awhile cause you gotta ship it to Springfield........ RescueYou
Interesting about the ejector. Let us know how that goes and if there's a fix for it.
