Help with seeing the sights for USPSA competition

I have a shotgun shooting buddy who for the last two years I have been trying to get him to shoot USPSA. He is in his fifties. He is in shape bikes and scuba dives. He has been shooting 1911s for years shooting from a static position at stationary targets. He always has had bad eye sight but gotten worse the last 7 or 8 years. He has been using Merit Optical Attachments for Handguns. He knows this won't work for move and shoot. I am throwing this out here to get some ideas he could try. He has been considering Red Dot sights. He knows this will put him in open and that is OK. Anyone tackled this situation before. If so, what did you do? What products would you recommend.

Heck Jay, bring him out to the club. He can shoot my gun and "see" if it is the magic bullet so to speak. I know he probably wants to shoot a minor load but a dot is a dot.

Thanks for the offer. He lives about an hour north of Indy. We rib each other probably 3 times a day over the net. Got him convinced to shoot the craziness we do but he can't see the sights. Thanks again for the offer.
