HoMiE
Can you use 300 blackout in HM division or does it need to be 308 or bigger? Or I guess in other words is it .30 caliber and major pf?
Rob Tompkins
No, min cal is 308 WIN / 7.62 x 51 (http://www.uspsa.org/rules/2012_Multigun_Rules.pdf page 17)
StealthyBlagga
The 2012 provisional rules do stipulate ".308 Win/7.62x51". Previous rules just said ".308" leaving the door open to all .30-cal projectiles. Quite what the meaning of "minimum caliber is" in the context of the specific caliber designation is unclear to me - is ONLY .308 Win permitted? Are 7.62x54 Russian, .30-06 Springfield or .300 Lapua Magnum OK? What about 7.62x39 if loaded to the required PF? I think the wording in the USPSA rules was lifted right out of an older version of IMA rules and is poorly crafted - the IMA rules are much clearer nowadays. OP: you will get a lot more informed discussion if you take this question to the Multi-Gun Rules forum.
OUshooter
I used to love the idea of shooting 308 and whipping 223s. But with all the scoring going to time plus with 1 A to neutralize and no "any 2 on paper" for major then what's the point of HM?
