msg73
I'm in NJ w/ 15rd max so limited-10 makes more sense than limited. I was thinking of getting an STI Trojan 40 to use in Limited-10 instead of the more expensive hi-cap 2011 route. If I'm shooting limited-10, I don't see a reason to spend more money on a 2011. I would also be able to shoot single stack major with it. Does this make sense?
Braxton1
The main disadvantage of using a single-stack in Limited-10 is that, during a reload, you're stuffing a non-tapered magazine into the magwell, as opposed to a 2011 mag that has a definite taper. It makes reloading a hair more-difficult, but it is not something major to worry about. That is why a lot of people shoot double-stacks in L-10. Look at it this way: with all the money that you're saving, you can by a lot of bullets and primers!! Edited July 22, 2012 by Braxton1
dsmw5142
Makes perfect sense to me. The Trojan is a fine gun and should serve you well. I prefer a single stack grip anyway, so that's likely what I'd do if I didn't live in the gunshine state.

waynes_world_45
That way you can shoot SS with the same gun
MartinLei
I used to shoot Limited 10 with my single stack gun with a Dawson Ice mag well. I now shoot open with 2011. I don't think I can reload any faster with my 2011 than my 1911.
RH45
For ME it is a lot easier to reload a 2011, than a 1911, especially with 10 round ss mags.
RePete
I'm running a 40cal Trojan for ESP in IDPA with Tripp 'System' mags (10rd), and I don't see a problem running it in L10 major for USPSA. Note to self - Try it.
jualdeaux
Well, at the very least, the magazines will be cheaper.
USCSBarney
Ran a L10 single stack for years without a problem. Gives you the option of Single Stack or Limited 10 with a mag change. I now shoot an STI 2011 for the L10 to Limited option. I notice very little difference in my reload times. If anything it helped my reloads stating where I did. The cure, in my case is a replacement slide stop, and it will be a Wilson Bulletproof. My FTF's were attributed to the use of truncated cone bullets, but the Frontier RNFP, Hornady RNFP, Bayou Bullets and Rainier JHP are working fine. Steve L
I'm in jersey and have a .40 single stack, and a 2011, you are welcome to try both. I have system mags and to get the loaded 10 round mags in the gun takes a good slam, 9 or less and they go in with no effort. The 2011 though I use for limited, L10, and 3Gun.
