msg73
I currently have an M&P40 FS for limited 10 and was wondering if you think it's worth it to sell it and upgrade to a 5" Pro model. Does the extra .75" help a lot? Probably lose about $200 in upgrading, but do you think it's worth it or should I just stick with mine?
Babaganoosh
We can always use a little more length in life ya know.... If it makes you happy I say get it. It probably isn't a night and day difference accuracy wise.
horseman
I have both and it is a night and day difference for me.
retarmyaviator
I have both and it is a night and day difference for me. Same here, I have both in 9mm and the difference in the Pro is well worth the change.

FightFireJay
It's 3/4" extra barrel, so you can go lower on your powder charges if you reload. The longer slide helps with felt recoil. But the biggest improvement is probably the extra 3/4" in the distance between the front and rear sights.
ProGunGuy
I have a pro and FS. the Pro 5" seems to balance better in the hand for me.
rack&roll
I had the FS 40 and liked it a lot, but I ended up trading it for a 9L and was glad I did. I got a 40 Pro about a year and a half ago, and it's now my Limited gun. +1 to everything that's been said. Longer barrel means longer sight radius, more velocity, and better balance. Go for the Pro! msg73
Ok. Seem like the consensus is the 5" Pro > FS. However, I've now added a 1911 STI Trojan 40 S&W into the mix.
msg73
I think I'm going to keep my fullsize for HD and get a 1911 or 2011 in 40. Thanks for the feedback.

msg73
Ok, STI's are a bit more than what I want to spend. I have a buyer for my 40FS, so off to find someone who has it in stock....I hope it's worth it.
BillR1
I still have a .40FS as my EDC, but I use a pair of 5" Pro 9s for competition. I also think it's a "night and day difference".
MP9
I have a FS 9, and thinking in upgradeing to the pro. When you guys say it is night and day difference, what do you mean.? Less Recoil? Less muzzle flip, or more acurate after 25 yards shots? Thanks

LikesToShoot
I have a FS 9, and thinking in upgradeing to the pro. When you guys say it is night and day difference, what do you mean.? Less Recoil? Less muzzle flip, or more acurate after 25 yards shots? Thanks All three, less recoil, less flip and better accuracy. I was in denial for years thinking .75" couldn't make that much difference. I WAS WRONG!
partyboy424
It's worth every penny. I had the 4" in 40 and bought the upper slide assembly from s&w for the pro. Between the sight radius, front end weight and the ESP magwell I added on which aides in grip it's a completely different gun. Given the choice I would never ever go back to an M&P below 5". I'll still have to when I shoot heavy metal 3 gun since I use my 45m&p and I absolutely dread it now. That used to be my favorite gun.

In .40 or 9mm?
partyboy424
I bought the .40 slide from SS&W directly completely bare, then a 40 kkm barrel, all the slide internals (extractor, striker etc) and Dawson adjustables from SSS. They are awesome by the way, one of the parts was backordered, I didn't realize until the package with the rest of the parts had shipped. I emailed Lacey and told her how I had a match in two days and needed the part ASAP (an extractor) She emailed me back, told me what she had in stock, I decided to spring for the APEX hardened extractor and without me even asking for expedited shipping which I would've still paid for, she dropped it in the mail overnighted free of charge. SSS will now always get all of my business (which will more than make up for that shipping cost), there are parts I could order from S&W, some of which can be cheaper since they don't charge shipping to me since I'm fairly close, but their Customer Service will never compare to SSS.
