fasted
I thought it might be the mags but used different mags and the slide locked back every time, thought it could be ammo -so used 3 differerent types of ammo. The gun has not be used for a while and I am thinking recoil spring -but before I tinkered I thought I would ask you guys-any thoughts. shooter.860
How is the slide lock spring ? weak ? recoil may be pushing it up.
dmedley
This is usually caused by your left hand pushing the slide release up during firing and is why many people prefer the standard slide release.
lugnut
If it's not what the other folks have posted... check the position of the slide lock spring in relation to the pin in the frame. The only time I've seen this was when someone installed the spring the wrong way... it would lock back all the time because the spring wasn't holding the slide release properly. JTew
The few times mine has done that, the slide lock spring was broken. Like others above stated, just make sure the spring is under the top locking block pin.
Sarge
My money is on the spring being installed wrong.
Braxton1
When I went to the big slide stops, I had the same issue. It was my thelnar prominence (the big hunk of muscle at the base of the thumb) pushing up on it when I'd assume the grip. Got rid of it and the problem went away. Glockman1000
Make sure the pistol is unloaded & try this, pull back the slide slowly & watch the slide stop if it has any movement while the slide is retracted. If it does, like everyone has mentioned, the spring might be too weak or not installed below the upper locking block pin. If you want to use an extended slide stop, use the factory extended one. Not as long as the other aftermarket ones, but it doesn't interfere with my grip.
fasted
Guys my thanks for diagnosis-changed slide lock to factory supplied -and all works fine. It strikes me that there is very little the members have not seen and have a solution to. Thanks again.
lsr1238
Glad you found out what's wrong. This is a common occurence. The way I diagnosed it is, I shoot the Glock with an extended slide lock strong hand only. This way I know I'm not touching the slide lock. Jps42
I had this happen to me today in a match. The stage before one of my pins had walked out some so I went and fixed that and didnt think about the spring. The next stage was trashed by it, it locked back almost every shot. I took which would of been a really good run do to that spring. So make sure the spring is In the proper place.
JBP55
Glad you figured it out, your issue was with the slide stop and had nothing to do with the slide lock.
