DoubleL
My dad is having a hard time with his current sight dimensions. He switches to my gun and goes five for five on 6x6 steel at about 10 yards. We compared the two sets of sights and his front post is as wide as a city bus. He wants the size I've got on my Shadow. Anyone know the measurements of the stock FO sights on a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow? Fixed rear, serrated. FO front.
wanderer
5.5mm high x 3.1mm wide with 1.5mm (0.060")fiber. what is too wide the entire front sight or the fiber which takes up most of the front sight. i prefer the 1.0mm (0.040") fiber but if the whole front sight is too wide, czcustom make a 2.75 wide sight giving much more light either side of the front sight. DoubleL
Thanks. I am happy with my width of the front sight. It's my dads gun that is too wide. The front sight is almost too wide to fit in the notch! It's a 3 dot set he has on his glock. Horrible width relation between the two. No light and the front is almost entirely dot. Massive dot! We are going to start with the same size I have, but for his gun, and go from there. It was the first practice he ever had actually knowing how to "see" his sights. Once we figured out he's not nearly as blind as he thought, the light gaps on his front sight, rather the lack of, became an issue for him. I shoot probably 1/3 as accurate with the fatty front blade. Hard to line em up!
wanderer
might want to ask this in the glock page. if they are the standard plastic sights, change em out for some good steel target sights. sevigny competition sights are a good place to start. Jonathan Taliani
My CZC Shadow sight width is: Front - .110" Rear - .125" This is the Custom Shadow, not a stock Shadow. Edited July 9, 2012 by Jonathan Taliani
DoubleL
Thanks for the info all. Sweet JT, those are the numbers I was looking for. And I'm thinking starting with a set of the Dave S. comp sights would be a good start.
Jonathan Taliani
Thanks for the info all. Sweet JT, those are the numbers I was looking for. And I'm thinking starting with a set of the Dave S. comp sights would be a good start. Glad I could help. If you want to replicate the above gap (.015), check out the narrow Sevigny Competition Rear and a Warren FO Front at CPWSA. That is the combo I switched to after using the original rear for a long while. Comparison specs Sevigny Competition (standard): Rear - .150" Front - .115" Gap - .035" Sevigny Competition Narrow: Rear - .130" Front - .115" (same front) Gap - .015" The second set is definitely my personal preference if running a FO front. Still provides a gap around the sight (allowing speed) while being tight enough to not allow you to get sloppy.
DoubleL
Thanks again! The larger gap of the standard DS sights has me a little worried. The .035 gap is quite a bit bigger than the gap set up on the Shadow. Perfect info so I can hopefully buy once and get it right! I knew a vendor here had to have what I need. I'll check them out for sure.
