Best !0/22 barrel for the money

I have a friend who is looking to replace his barrel and hot rod his 10/22. Looking for the best accuracy at the best price. What is your experience? He likes flutes, and was wondering what the optimal length was for a .22 rifle?

Depends on what kind of shooting he is doing. For rimfire challenge stuff look at the magnum research carbon fiber barrel. For more accurate longer range shooting check out the Kidd stuff.

I like Green Mountain barrels myself. I run a fluted & threaded 20" on my 10/22. It's a tack driver.

My TacSol SBX barrel arrived a couple days ago. As soon as I get my Timney trigger group , Ill get it put together and see how it shoots. I hear good things and it looks cool as hell

I have a fluted Green Mountain factory second. I think I paid $80 for it. Its a great barrel for the money.

I've had good results with my Tac Sol barrel as well. Just be sure to try different as many varieties of ammo as possible. I went through about 6 different brands before finding what shot the best.
