Trident
I have been shooting MG 124g CMJ and JHP over 4.3g N320 @ 1.146 (load info below) but I'm trying to find a load for 147g that is as accurate or more accurate than the 124g and between he three 124g JHP, 124g CMJ & 147G CMJ which shot tighter groups. So far both 124g bullets seem to be about the same with the JHP being better ion the HK. So far, the 147g is 2"-3" larger groups in all three guns. So far I have tried 3.6g & 3.8g N320 under MG 147g CMJ but both produced 2"-3" larger groups than the 124 CMJ or JHP. I have tried 1.120, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, & 50 with no noticeable difference in the OAL. With all I have read on BE.com about thte MG 147g I was expecting the 147g to shoot well form the MP 9 Pro and the 124g JHP to shoot better than the CMJ. So.... today I also tested 124g CMJ against 124g JHP both over 4.3g N320 @ 1.148 in all three guns and found the MP 9 pro and the Sig 226 shot the RN 1" better while the HK P30 shot the 124g JHP 3" better. I was expecting the JHP to shoot better in all three. hoping to find all three guns shot one or the other better so I could make a definitive conclusion. But I'm going to do this test one more time. However, I still need to find a better load for the MG 147g CMJ. What is working for you? 3.6g N320 under MG 147 CMJ @ 1.150 MP9 Pro- 872 Av, ES 60, SD 16, 128 PF Sig 226 - 851 Av, ES 106, SD 33, 125 PF 3.8g N320 under MG 147 CMJ @1.150 MP9 Pro- Av 922, ES 50, SD 14, 135 PF Sig 226 - AV 891, ES 49, SD 15, 131 PF 4.2g N320 under MG 124 JHP @ 1.146 MP9 - 1049, ES 38, SD 12, 130 PF Sig - 1009, ESA 62, SD 19, 125PF What is everyone using to get the best groups for the MG 147g CMJ? Round_Gun_Shooter
Now I will try it here When I had a M&P I found it did not like any heavy bullets I tried. Since I shoot heavy bullets because of hand problems, I got rid of the gun
chuck s
the 147gr MG is a short bullit, so I load it with 3.5 N320 at 1.12 and get a PF of 130-133. in my M&P pro 5" and it shoots it better than the 124s. I load the Precision delta 147s to 1.14-5 with the same gr of N320 and they too shoot well.

DougCarden
Try a shorter OAL with both bullets. Try around 1.125-130 for the 147 and try around 1.120 for the 124 and see how they shoot. DougC
Powerslide91
I agree on trying shorter. I have been working MG 147 CMJ over n320. Lately I have been homing in on 3.6gr. From reading on this forum I measured my barrel (Springfield XD 5" barrel) and found the room was around 1.145", so I had initially focused on that OAL from reading comments on longer = better. But my testing has been showing the smallest groups at 25 yards when I run the OAL around 1.13. PF for my gun was 129 @ 1.145" and closer to 130 @ 1.135" I just built a new test batch on the same headstamp brass to further test the OAL changes myself. I ran 20 ea of 1.145, 1.140, 1.350. 1.250 & 1.120 and didn't see any noticeable differences in either of the guns. The only real noticeable difference was between CMJ and JHP where the MP and Sig Preferred the RN and the HK preferred the JHP by 2". BTW, Sig 226 Magazine Max OAL = 1.180 Max Chamber length for MG 124g CMJ = 1.220 Max Chamber length for MG 124g JHP = 1.173 For S&W MP Pro 9 Magazine Max OAL = 1.180 Max Chamber length for MG 124g CMJ = 1.198 Max Chamber length for MG 124g JHP = 1.153 Max Chamber length for MG 147g CMJ = 1.
Hi-Power Jack
my M&P pro 5" and it shoots it better than the 124s. MP9 Pro - Shot 7" group with 3 flyers at 25 yds. Sig 226 - Shot 5" group with 1 Flyer MP9 Shot Group pretty even 8" group Sig 226 - Shot pretty even 5" group. Trident, seems like your Sig is more accurate - I'd stick with the one gun for a while to simplify the process. Have you found any ammo that shoots 3" groups at 25 yards in your Sig? I'd experiment with different powders, powder loads, bullets & OAL's to see if I could get some 3" groups with the Sig. Try firing a 12 shot group, and eliminate the 4 worst shots - measure the remaining eight shots - try to get the group of eight down to 3".
