Michael64
I see that Safariland now has 4rd 12ga shell holders and am wondering how these are compared to the CCW 4rd shell holders?

Michael64
Pics I've seen look like two different shell holders. The shell retention spring and the backs look completely different. Unless CCW has redesigned there 4rd holders??
MickB
Safariland sells them with an ELS fork attachment. I have both CCW and Safariland and they are identical. Mick

Mick Safariland USED TO source the shellholders from CCW and they said CCW on them [082], but very recently [this year's Shot show, I think] Safariland changed the design to be more like the Progressive Machine shellholders [085]. I don't know if they are still being made by CCW, but there are definately 2 designs, and old which is identical to CCW, and a new, that is not. Old style [082]: http://www.safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=082 New style [085, crummy pic] http://www.safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=

barrysuperhawk
Those two are definitely not the same thing. I have seen them in person and the 085 safarilands are much thicker and seem much sturdier than the 082 CCW/Safarilands. EDIT: I was not entirely correct, as it seems CCW has changed their design: http://www.demooner.com/product.asp?numPageStartPosition=1&P_ID=231&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&strSearchCriteria=&PT_ID=15 So, apparently the "OLD" safariland 082's are the "old" CCW and the New Safariland 085's are still from CCW, but the new style. I do, however stand by my previous assertion that the 085's seem much sturdier than the 082's. and apparently, this is all old news... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=132013 Edited July 4, 2012 by barrysuperhawk
