MGMorden
Title says it all. I'm attending an RO class this weekend and it said to bring ammo and your gun/gear, but I wasn't sure exactly how much. I had packed 200 rounds (which is what I normally about what I take to a local match) but then started having second thoughts as to taking more. I would just throw in extra just in case but 200 is what I have on hand right now, and I load on a single stage press, so if I can help it I don't feel like chugging away at the bench again if I don't have to . Thanks for any advice offered.
sfchorn
200 will be way more than enough. I'd take 50. On the 2nd day of class you will take turns running each other through and scoring a very simple mock stage (less than 18 rounds). You will only have to shoot it once. That was my experience with Gary Stevens. You can always PM your NROI instructor. Chances are he's a member of the Benoverse. Good luck, and congratulations on taking the RO class. It was the same thing for me a couple of years ago. Less than 20 rounds needed for the course of fire.
bikerburgess
I'm taking a class in 2 weeks and this is what I was told you will need your note taking material as well as a firearm and less than 50 rounds of ammo along with holster mag pouches ear and eye protection, you will be RO'ing other students on a course of fire hope this helps Mike
MarkCO
I think we shot maybe 15 rounds in my RO class.
Corey
When I took mine, we had the option of not even shooting if we didnt want to. Everyone had to run the timer and clipboard, but not everyone had to shoot. Obviously this meant some people would shoot more than once. Load up 2 or 3 mags and call it a day. leas327
When I took the class the course of fire was 12 rounds. Everyone was required to run a shooter and run the clipboard one time. Nobody was required to shoot the cof. There were some guys who elected not to shoot. A few others and I shot it a couple times each. I might have shot 60 rounds. Poppa Bear
My avatar was taken at the RO class so looking at it on my puter rather than my phone I will rephrase the question. How many shot the barricade? We had a shooter do it in ours. We made it out of cardboard rather than use our solidly constructed 2x4 official barricade for a reason. Sarge
I think we shot maybe 15 rounds in my RO class. One guy in our class didn't need much ammo at all. He literally DQ'd right out of the chute! And it was NOT part of the training he literally DQ'd. Ahh Good training.
Poppa Bear
A tip for those getting ready to take the class. Look through past threads on the rules forum and look at those with several pages of discussion. Read through them and you might come up with some good topics to ask the instructor about as to why things are ruled that way. Examples would be why is this a DQ'able AD and this is not? Why is this a per shot procedural when this one is not? Not all of the rules are black and white, most are shades of gray that depend on the situation. Our instructor had students make intentional errors just to test our knowledge and create discussion on what rule if any was actually broken. Hands on is one of the best ways to learn.
