BillyBeards
Hello folks, I'm stopping by to say my first hello. I've only been shooting for just over a year now and I'm enjoying it greatly. A co-worker told me about this forum so here I am checking it out. Stay safe. Bill
leemoe83
As in New York City, New York? You are the first person I have ever seen on this forum from that area. Welcome, and sorry for all the stuff you must have to deal with to play with guns. Soldier on man, you're an inspiration.
Hi-Power Jack
As in New York City, New York? You are the first person I have ever seen on this forum from that area. Welcome, and sorry for all the stuff you must have to deal with to play with guns. There are two "New Yorks" - one is NYC (5 boroughs), and the other NY is the rest of New York State - Rockland County isn't too bad - I'm in Ulster County which is GREAT!!! Almost like being in the USA - except NO suppressors or full auto, or "new" mags larger than 10 rounds. Can shoot IDPA at Dutchess County and USPSA in Albany, or venture into Pennsylvania:)
BillyBeards
Thanks. I can almost deal with all the red tape but the lack of good places and prices to going shooting is what get's to me really. Thanks
Hi-Power Jack
Thanks. I can almost deal with all the red tape but the lack of good places and prices to going shooting is what get's to me really. Thanks I understand completely. I am fortunate enough to spend the winter in Florida, and could shoot a match there at least 1-2x/week if I wanted - more if I shot 3-gun. Last year, I shot 2 matches in NY (one was actually in NJ) in six months You've got to get rid of the kids and move south
BillyBeards
Hi-Power Jack: We don't have kids but we keep trying to think of ways to move south. It's that working and making money thing that I keep worrying about.
CZinSC
Welcome, from a former Rockland County guy. I moved down to SC 5 years ago for work, ironically enough they are laying me off ( June 29th is my last day ), but I have no intentions of moving back to NY. Yes, I heard from Matt that there will be a total of four (4) USPSA matches all year + I can't make at least two of them. Wish there were more - it's the ONLY range under 100 miles from me. BillyBeards
I've actually been going to the Tuesday night Practical Action League pretty consistently at DCPA. It's a good time and I hope to make it to an actual IDPA match once my schedule allows. If you see me you won't be able to miss me, I'm the tattooed guy. Mechanistic
Ey Yo! From BK! Yeah Bloomberg doesn't make anything gun easy and fun here. I am sure you have all heard of that recent bs change that no longer allows the transport of handguns outside of the 5 boroughs which drastically reduces competition shooters options. There are a few petitions going around. This must be stopped. It's a domino effect and we all have to really band together now.
