bbbean
Here's another 8 round issue: Stage requires 17 rounds from two positions. Some targets are available from both positions, but there is no way to engage targets without a string of 8+ rounds. Legal? I can make the argument work both ways. bikerburgess
Nope you are still requiring more than 8 shots from one of the two locations, even if you are not dictation which one. But you can add a third location or view that is shall we say not advantageous to the shooter (think far away or difficult position or hard shot) thus encouraging them to fire more than 8 rounds from one of the other locations. Nik Habicht
Or you can make one or more targets (partially?) available during the move from P1 to P2 -- then there's the interesting tradeoff of taking something on the move.... Options in stages = Good! I remember an Erik Warren designed stage from Nationals in Barry in the early part of the decade: 21 rounds, 10 paper, one USP. Most production shooters hit 5 paper from the left most position; reloaded on the move and hit five paper and the steel from the right most position. 2 paper were only visible from each of the far left/far right positions, six paper were potentially available in the middle. Legal stage, with options if people wanted to do something else....
Graham Smith
Stage requires 17 rounds from two positions. That right there tells the whole story. 17 / 2 = 8.5 Can you add a third position? Require that at least one target be engaged from each location and let the shooter decide what to shoot from where.
Poppa Bear
I can make it work easily because the rule is location OR view. As Nik noted, having targets available as you move from position to position CAN make it legal. As is having more than one view from that position. 8 paper and 1 steel from either side of the barricade? Not legal. 8 paper and 1 steel from either side of the barricade, or the port in the middle? Legal 8 paper and 1 steel from either side of two barricades? Legal Read OP again. You admit that you must take 8+ from what sounds like one view. Shooters choice which view. Not legal. Coach
Not legal. But I wish it was.
bbbean
FWIW, the stage designer in question changed his design to make a target available from a 3rd position. Problem solved.
