rtr
Both competed in the "rifle" event on the ESPN great outdoor games. Also they had several NSSF ads that ran during it, all or most featured Koenig, one included him shooting an IPSC stage with an Open gun. Also had a sidepiece featuring Miculek showing some cops how to shoot a plate rack, real fast, with a revo. So could we get some sort of a gimmick carnival stage type handgun event in this thing please? M. Bane got any insight on this?
Kingman
the koenig add was pretty well done. if something like that ran more often on something other than the show it was on during. We might get some more interest.
davidwiz
The NSSF ads w/ Doug K. run on ESPN quite a bit, and not just during shooting programs. I also saw them last year during OLN's Tour De France coverage. All of the print and tv NSSF ads can be found here or here on the NSSF's page. MBaneACP
Actually, we pushed very hard for a handgun stage at the Great Outdoor Games when I was consulting with NSSF. I had suggested an all-steel stage with brightly colored "lollypoppers" and open guns, something fast and visual. ESPN liked it right up until they talked to the Powers That Be at Disney, who owns 'em. Talk about the poop hitting the air conditioner! Disney is RELENTLESSLY, ADAMENTLY, ABSOLUTELY, EXCEPT NO SUBSTITUTESS anti-gun, and they put the Big Kabosh on handguns. It's a credit to Scott Moore at NSSF that he was able to ram though Jerry's demo by sheer force of will. NOW THE GOOD NEWS...The Outdoor Channel is moving ahead with the TOC Cup—National Handgun Championships for October 2005. Can't tell you more, except that this is the match you've always DREAMED of seeing on TV!!!! mb
Patrick Sweeney
Not at all surprised about Disney. "Hey, who cares if the viewers would like it? Handguns are evil and icky, and we can't show them." The WC/TOC sounds great! How do we make the cut (or dream of it) to get in? And for those of us who are better described as "ink stained wretches" how to cover it? MBaneACP
Current budget planning has provisions for "ink-stained wretches." Sweeney, you'll love San Antonio! mb
GRD
With that in mind about Disney...next time you're watching the news, remember that Disney owns ABC. ABC: The Real Mickey Mouse News Channel. - Gabe
