EricW
I realize this has been discussed in a couple of different threads, but I just wanted to add a couple points that don't seem appropriate to include there. Waiting sucks. But, right now, everybody's waiting on everybody, especially in the gunsmith business. I had to wait a LOT longer than the quoted time for a gun recently. but for good reason. There's a lot of people building guns to take on their way into harm's way. Like it or not, the "pro" jobs generally get bumped to the top of the list. I bitched and whined about waiting on my gun, but I felt pretty sh*tty when I took a look at the job board and saw a lot of professional users in line who might actually need their gun for more than whacking clays and pepper poppers. Finally, business is damn good right now for a lot of people - regardless of the evening news rhetoric. I'm having trouble just getting quotes, people are so busy. Getting production work? Kingman
Thats why I build my own. I dealt with that some 15 years ago when I started shooting open guns. That prompted me to learn. I have to work on the machining parts, but fitting can be learned if you really work at it.
SiG Lady
Yep, even shooters from other forums are PM-ing me asking what's-the-scoop on John Jardine at Valtro USA (California)....... Well, he's a victim of his own success in building nice blasters, for one thing; for another, it was military contracts that bumped the rest of us peons off John's back burner, into the back room and onto some semi-permanent shelf. Eleven months and waiting. My spiffy new 1911...? Not at all sure of that any more.
texasag93
Yes, the economy is good now, gun business included. Sometimes things are worth the wait. TXAG
