My friend bought the IMM 6 months ago and found that the bullets hitting the inner surface of the compensatror. He is using 9x23 that most of our club members using, then he has been suffering horrible shooting that the grouping is poor and the gun bounce likes wide horse.

I think he'd consider to change the ammno. Any suggestions for the factory ammo suitable for that hell IMM?

Because we are only allowed to use factory ammos at Hong Kong.

well, slug the barrel for diameter first. They are using schuemann barrels. If Diameter is good then that is the first thing. Some have had .357 dia cuts instead of .355.

Next use a jhp if you are not already.

Aisaeagle,

As Flexmoney correctly points out, an ammo change may or may not correct the problem with your friend's pistol. What you have described sounds like a major malfunction and it needs to be investigated, and perhaps the compensator has been damaged by the use of non-3N38 loads. Continuing to use a pistol with a damaged comp may cause a catastrophic failure, would void most warranties, and could be extremely hazardous to the operator and to bystanders.

I would suggest that the pistol (or at least the barrel) be examined by the factory.

I would also suggest that the owner of the pistol call the factory at 800-928-1911, or reach them by e-mail at: info@sviguns.com for advice about inspecting his IMM.

Regards,

What is it with the 3n38 powder really that makes it the only choice for this pistol setup? And what is it with the compensator which makes it designed specifically for this powder?

Why hasnt this been addressed a long time ago since the pistol setup isnt a brand new one?

I have one of the IMM's - or my gf uses it now, hitting the compensator all the time - I dremeled the hole where the bullet hit a bit bigger - and went on using vihtavuori 340. When you get close to 9 grain with 3n38 in the 9x19 case, it gets kinda full :-)

Otherwise, its a fast and fun pistol.. Next time I will go for a longer barrel - no tribrid and the same comp as on tribrid barrel - just with more chambers..

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies. The notice from SVI said that the warrenty will be voided if you use powder other than 3N38. This is unfair to all users without the initial warning. How could the SVI lay the liability to the users like that?

Chris, yup - tested it yesterday 8.6grs held 164pf. It felt harder than my 172pf VV N340 loads though. - I just dremeled off alittle of the comp hole where the bullets hit. No problems. Precision is good with both 3n38 and 340. My OAL is at 30mm.

Of course I checked if anything wasnt right before opening the holes. If compensator is loose, or offset, it should be sent back to the factory for repairs or replacement.

My point is - if one powder in perticular is recommended, it should say so in the manual. If there are hazards using different powder than the recommended one, it should definately say so in the manual :-) The manual has been available for a while.

Yes, 3n38 loads was much more even in the chronograph! 4-5 feet difference in 5 rounds, compared to up to 20 feet with 340.

Take care!

Talked to Wil Schuemann yesterday when I ordered some barrels. He recomends either 3n38 or HS7.

He personally uses HS7. Don't know what that means to everyone but since he makes the barrel I am following his advice. Since I build em myself I don't have SV to worry about.
