I am thinking of getting the Comp-Tac Locking Paddle Holster for my STI Trojan Pistol which I shall be using for IDPA Competitions.Has anyone out there ever had had any experiences with this holster? If yes, what do you think of the Comp-Tac Locking Paddle Holster?Would you highly recommend it?How does it compare to holsters from BladeTech and SideArmor?Lastly, what do you think of the Comp-Tac Mag Pouches and would you also highly recommend them?

THANKS

I've been using comp-tac holsters and mag carriers for several years in both IDPA USPSA and many three gun matches. I won't use anything else as they stay were you put them on your belt and don't move around when you draw from them. Another advantage is you don't have to take your belt off to put them on, just slip the paddle inside your pants and over the belt then flip the tabs under the belt for a secured holster. Gregg is very good to work with and ships quickly. LOL Keith

I have a locking paddle for my CZ-75, and a couple of their single mag pouches for double column magazines.

The holster is excellent. It stays where you put it, and draws quickly. I'm not sure if you can adjust the cant angle, or get a canted one, though (mine is straight drop). I'm also not entirely sure that the locking tabs are necessary. The paddle has "teeth" that clamp against the fabric of your pants to keep the holster from sliding, so it is already secure without the tabs.

The mag pouches also are of good quality, but they are designed to clamp over a belt...if your belt isn't very thick, or if it isn't as wide as the slot at the back of the clamp, then the mag pouches can flop around just a little bit.

Tension adjustments for all Comp-Tac products require an allen key, which is included when you buy the stuff.

Customer service from those guys was excellent...very prompt, courteous, and helpful in answering my questions.

Can't really compare them to Blade Tech, etc. based on personal experience, but they appear to have similar quality of workmanship and materials. I think Comp-Tac shows a lot of attention to detail in their design as well.

I feel comptac is head and shoulders above Blade tech and side armor. Matt burkett uses them (national IDPA ESP champion) and i have had about every brand of holster i can think of. Kytac is the only one equal (posisbly better) and they have a month wait. Comptac i ordered on monday and recieved on saturday. very curtious and helpful.

I prefer single mag pouches i just grab the mags quicker and more consistantly

Comp-Tac's strength is in the elegance and quality of the finished product. They're stuff has a very professional look.

Ky-Tac's strength lies in the design(s) and function.

Both are great stuff, but I prefer the Ky-Tac. Consider the BraveHeart IWB, which is my primary carry holster. I also have a Comp-Tac Gurkha which is very obviously a cop ... well, it shares many design features in common and hit the market several years afterward. ;) Anyway, in terms of being a good carry holster with respect to speed of draw and comfort, I like the Ky-Tac BraveHeart better. The Comp-Tac Gurkha is definitely a close second though, and it's what I used for carry when I had to get my precious BraveHeart repaired!

I use the Comp-Tac locking paddle, single and double magazine carriers in IDPA and USPSA. I like them a lot. I used to use Blade-Tech but thier quality is hit and miss. Also customer service from Comp-Tac is the best. Two thumbs up!

PS: The holsters and magzine pouches are adjustable for tension but not for cant or angle away from the body.
