technetium-99m
If it's your first it wont be cheaper than buying. After a gun or two you'll see the cost savings and maybe get pretty good at it.

Jammer1911
You can always get a Para 16-40 and some extra mags. Excellent pistol for the dollars and mine has run flawlessly. JMHO
Aircooled6racer
Hello: If cost is an issue why not shoot a Glock 22 or 35? Since you seem to like Glocks it would make sense to do that. If you just add up all the parts for a quality 2011 build it will cost you more than just getting the Glock 35 and mags. Then you will need some tools to build the 2011 and also some mags. You could also look at a 1911 for Limited 10 which would be close to a Glock 35 in price if you start with a STI Spartan in 45. Lastly you may want to keep an eye out for a used STI Edge but it will still likely cost over $1500. Thanks, Eric
Merlin Orr
It ain't easy. I think the people who actually succeed in a first time build of a 2011, even close to comparable to a factory gun, are very rare. Seen a bunch of them that would "run" but damned few that were really decent guns. The guy who can build one right the first time are usually pretty/really talented at machine work or something similar. Just my opinion..... A G22 or G35 would give you 3 divisions to play around in while you late for that outstanding deal that comes along in the classifieds.
