West Texas Granny
Can one wear their ear buds from their IPOD under their hearing protection. Was wondering as I've seen it but it would seem to me to be a safety hazard because it could prevent hearing commands from the RO. Checked the rules and couldn't find anything about it. Skydiver
I think the only rules are around having "adequate" hearing protection. I don't think there is a rule about having too much. My MSA's have a jack that let me plug in my smartphone if I wanted to listen to tunes. Unfortunately, I don't get much opportunity to do that when I'm handling the timer: gotta listen for squibs, and any peanut gallery yells for "Stop." AustinT
Double plugging could prevent hearing commands from the RO also. And has, in my case.
ziebart
IMHO similar to double hearing protection. Normally I don't but when I shoot inside our house I wear plugs and muffs. I find it much easier to concentrate, but I do have trouble hearing some range commands. If the RO is wearing electronic muffs I will tell them to speak up since they tend not to yell because they can still hear themselves.
