pastorjohnd
I've been curious about the RRA "Standard" rifles. Anyone own one? How do they shoot? Can they hold their advertised 1 moa out to 500 or 600 yards?
Doug H.
I've been curious about the RRA "Standard" rifles. Anyone own one? How do they shoot? Can they hold their advertised 1 moa out to 500 or 600 yards? I started 3 gun with a Rock River Entry Tactical rifle. It would shoot fine cold but when it heated up the groups were all over the place. It now sports a 20" JP barrel, 15" Carbon forearm, JP trigger and Magpul PRS stock. Their basic guns are good quality but I think you would be better off spending the extra money and getting a gun that will be competitive out of the box. Many guns now being made that will work and you won't have to spend a few years changing parts to get a good competition gun. Doug
landshark45
After running 30k between 7 rra's I can vouch for the excellent accuracy and price. Backed up with durability. Might not be the best competition rifle out of the box but it depends on what you want. Dual purpose screams rra in my mind.

My main competition rifle is an M1A - and I plan on sticking with it, but I've been bitten by the AR bug. I want something that I can use as a back up rifle for highpower, something that I can throw a scope/dot on for an occasional 3 gun, and something that the wife/son can shoot when they follow me to the range. I've been looking hard at the RRA NM A4's, but I'm having a hard time justifying the cost given what I'm going to use it for & I'd like something with better quality than the AR's at Walmart. I thought that a RRA standard A4 might be a good compromise between the two. Have you shot/seen one shot on the 600 yard line? If it can keep 1 moa at distance I'll have a hard time keeping up with it.
landshark45
Iv never shot the NM but the standard A4 w/ the Wilson chrome molys shoots just about anything in the .75-1.5moa range. Cheap steel stays under 2moa normally. I never have a problem at 600yds w a 4x and mansized targets. Not going for the match grade accuracy like the NM is geared for. The A4 carbine style rra are more of a utility/ fighting gun.
