EricW
Space Ship One scoop The best coverage of the flight I've seen yet.
ErikW
Awesome. Inspring. Burt Rutan is my kind of hero. Liquid rubber and nitrous, cool. Aerodynamic surfaces configurable for high drag re-entry, cool. Scaled Composites SS1 home page
TriggerT
AOL had this story on it's "Breaking News" a few days ago. REALLY cool. Could this be the beginning of the Private Space travel industry?
ErikW
Not until better or much more efficient propulsion is found. Maybe I'm just pessimistic, as commercial aviation took off with the same propulsion the Wright Flyer used. (One can argue it didn't until jets, but...) Anyway, I think simple space-and-back, maybe a few orbits, commerical travel will happen unless it is outlawed. But it will be only for the filthy rich. It will make the Concorde fare look like a subway token. I think they should charge by the pound.

Shooter Grrl
David and I tried desperately to get hired by this company. I just knew they were going to make it! The only problem is, they're in Kalibanfornia.
SiG Lady
Neat photo, but it's doin' a screen-stretch. Wanna reduce it by about 10-15%...? Thanks. PS--Obviously, the person with the cam was shooting into the sun (aaarrggghhh!) and the aircraft is in shadow. I just tweaked and adjusted the photo (and created some sky, too...). Shall I post it...? However, I can't edit content on this sub-forum. I could mail it to you and have YOU post it, if you like. 'Seems the event gathered quite a crowd. This is good. JFlowers
Did Space Ship One make the required second flight?
ErikW
If you are talking about the X Prize, this wasn't the required first flight. That requires taking three people (or 1 plus equivalent weight) up and back then repeating within two (?) weeks. This was just a test run.
