blaster113
Just started loading on my new XL650. I've noticed that when I resize Remington cases that were primed with Winchester SP/SR primers, occasionally the primers would get stuck in the primer pockets, as in get pushed half way out. This will happen once in a while when I resize Winchester 1x fired cases as well. My resize die is an EGW U-die screwed down so it barely touches the shellplate. Never had this problem when I had the U-die on my old 550. This would happen when resizing .38SC Starline brass with CCI SR primers too. Just started using my stash of Winchester primers and I've only loaded a few hundred so far. The decap pin is in perfect shape. anyone else notice this
Sarge
Are you sure they are getting stuck half way out as opposed to getting dragged back into the brass? That is usually the case. They will stick to newer pins and just get brought back into the primer pocket. The pin being in "perfect" shape is the culprit. There is a thread offering different fixes to the pin but what worked for me was to grind a small bevel on the end of the pin.
blaster113
sometimes the primers will be pushed a little out, sometimes halfway out or more. was thinking that maybe the primers are a little oversize or the primer pockets are tight. seating the primers is no problem tho. I'll try putting a small bevel on the decap pin. the pin is rounded now.

Or the primer is getting sucked back in...It has to be one or the other. jj Edited March 4, 2012 by RiggerJJ
blaster113
I'll try and adjust the decap pin depth and see if that works
