Skydiver
If a friend of yours is complaining about tumbling bullets, would you let him shoot rounds over your chrono? I'm posting this question because I got to thinking after posting my opinion on a question about tumbling bullets: my first thought was "In his shoes, I would chrono my rounds". This lead me to follow up with, "if I know ahead of time that rounds are already tumbling, do I trust the rounds not to kill a chrono?" For me, my response would be to request the friend to shoot a 5 shoot group at 15 ft. If I feel that the group fits within the chrono gates, then go ahead shoot over my chrono. Hi-Power Jack
my response is to request the friend to shoot a 5 shoot group at 15 ft. If I feel that the group fits within the chrono gates, then go ahead shoot over my chrono. I'd shoot the 5-shot group, and then I'd shoot over my chrono. lcs
Short answer---NOPE If I tested his rounds/gun first, then I would chrono. I don't let anybody use my chrono.
Skydiver
but, why not first solve the problem of the tumbling bullets?? Off topic: How do you know if the bullet is going too slow and causing the tumbling, or going too fast and causing the tumbling? Do you just blindly try other loads until the tumbling goes away? That seems to be a fair. and if they shoot it without paying, the better run lol Edited March 2, 2012 by bassochist

RePete
The long and short answers are the same. NO! And there's no discussion on why, other than I said so. Edited March 17, 2012 by RePete
shooter57
you should see if they tumble because their too slow or fast. and ask what he loaded them at. My guess they would not start tumbling right out of the gun unless it's a barrel issue. or just bad/wrong bullets.
