RevolverJockey
I had my new 627 cylinder off today to break the edges on the star and do a bit of mild polishing: While I had it apart I weighed the cylinder and it came in at 252g. I was wondering if anyone has ever weighed their fluted cylinder or would be willing to next time it is apart so I can see the difference in fluted/unfluted. Thanks, Lee Edited February 26, 2012 by Mitch_Rapp.

TMC
Mine came in at 8.6oz or 243 grams with the extractor star, 231 grams bare. Titanium cylinder, 132 grams bare Edited February 26, 2012 by TMC
RevolverJockey
By my math, that is 14.9g or about .52oz. It sure seems like it would be a bigger difference. It is a pretty funny look especially from the front.
Gregg K
The weight of the fluted cylinders will vary since the length of the flutes varies. I once ordered 2 new cylinders of the same part number from S&W, they came in the same box and one had noticeably longer flutes than the other. RevolverJockey
Perhaps I will post my cylinder lendth and diameter to add to the comparison. Lee
