cpa5oh
I got lucky and bought a Witness Steel .40 a few weeks back (it was "used" and I got it for $300...it looked like it had never been fired.) I'd like to get one in 9mm to use in USPSA production - problem is I can't find one online (and I've been to alot of local gun shops and haven't seen them there, either.) Is there any kind of trick to getting a 9mm Witness? Anybody know of any online sellers that might have one of these in stock? (I google searched and every retailer that came up was out of stock.) Thanks! Dan

J-Ho
Why not use the .40 in production?
jmbaccolyte
If you reload, you can load the .40 S&W pretty mild. So it shouldn't be much (if any) of a disadvantage compared to a 9mm.
cpa5oh
The .40 is pretty snappy...I'm going to suck when I do my first match, so I was thinking maybe I shouldn't go looking for additional challenges :-) On the other hand, maybe dealing with the heavier recoil would make me a better shooter in the long run. I don't reload (yet) so I'm just shooting production loads, but cost isn't a factor - I'm getting boxes of 100 rounds in .40 for $25, whereas 9mm is only $5 less. I do see 9mm conversion kits on EAA's website...but I'd be in about $300 it seems and if I can find a whole gun in stock somewhere I'd only be in about $150 more than that, I think. I'll call EAA tomorrow and find out what the 9mm conversion actually comes with (don't know if it comes with a magazine...I would think it would, but I shouldn't assume.) I do have a Glock 34 that shoots 9mm, but kinda wanted to shoot a Witness or 75b instead. Edited February 19, 2012 by cpa5oh

Old Tool Guy
I came across your post yesterday about looking for a steel Witness in 9mm while I was researchng Glock 34/17L's. Did you find one? If this would be of interest or not - I have two in 9mm - a standard steel and Stock and been thinking about purchase of a Glock 34. Would a trade be of interest? I'm not interested in a trade since this 34 is basically what I learned to compete in action pistol with, but I'd be interested in a purchase. Let me know what the condition is and the price on the Stock. (I sent you a pm as well.)
Lubecktech
Here are a couple of things I have seen on GunBroker that you might find helpful; http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=286332485 There are several of these floating around on the net which appear to be Israieli trade-ins and if good shooters would also be a piece of history. I don't see any import markings. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=286193150 Century Arms Import from the same Vendor.
