cpa5oh
I just got a Blade Tech DOH holster for my EAA Witness. I've only been to two action pistol 'practices' so I'm very green...and last time I got told about allowing the muzzle to cross my weak hand when I was unholstering (because my previous holster/belt wasn't working real good for me - it was like the gun was getting stuck and I had to hold the holster with my weak hand when unholstering.) So I put this DOH holster on a belt and it points the muzzle right at my leg - is that how it is supposed to be? Or should it be angled slightly to the front or back? (I can see this has the ability to adjust to point the muzzle slightly forward or back.) I'm sorry if this is a really dumb rookie question...I just want to be safe above all in doing this action pistol stuff - I know there are alot of people that want to take guns out of our hands and they're just itching for an incident or two to point at to support their cause. I don't want to be the fool that gives them an example to use, so I figured I'd rather get yelled at on a forum than risk anything. I did read through the first two pages and saw no answer to my question. Thank you!
bobert1
The "O" in DOH stands for offset. That does cause the barrel to be angled towards your leg. Some shooters do angle their holsters forward for an easier draw. Welcome to the sport.

I did read through the first two pages and saw no answer to my question. Thank you! I'm glad you got a better holster. The overly-collapsible ones people often start with do make you want to reach across with your weak hand and help it in and out of the holster. Bad ju-ju. Your DOH holster is very adjustable, including adding washers/shims to the upper or lower screws to make it point more inboard (at your leg) or outboard. Cant refers to the muzzle direction; pointing forward or back. Tilt (as some call it) is the inward or outward pointing of the muzzle. As said, it can be adjusted for your body type and how the holster/belt combo make it ride for you. What belt are you using? I tend to wear mine directly down my side seam, pointed vertically at the ground and not aimed in toward my body. Very neutral. It's a position I'm very familiar with and therefore comfortable for me. You'll have to find what works best for you.
