ericm
Cool new product from CarbonArms!! I was helping a buddy reconfigure his DPMS SASS AR-10 for his He-man rifle. The gun is accurate and reliable, but very heavy, in keeping with it's intended pupose of precision. We changed out the Magpul PRS for an A2 stock and replaced the Ergo palm shelf pistol grip with his prefered Hoague overmolded pistol grip. The gun was still heavy and now more muzzle heavy due to the A2 stock being lighter. And now the CarbonArms part: they prototyped for us (now production, I understand) a carbon fiber free float tube the same diameter as their AR-15 tube with the rear modified to fit the DPMS barrel nut. We didn't have to remove the barrel or monkey with the barrel nut! This tube took 1 lb. off of the front of the SASS (that big stock railed tube is HEAVY). These tubes work with the DPMS AR-10 barrel nuts that are threaded on the outer diameter. Installation of the new carbon fiber tube was easier than removing the stock quad rail. For the big DPMS AR-10 guns, this new tube is cool and light! (sounds like a beverage commercial) ericm

CareyH
I used a DPMS SASS in stock config at the Johnson 3gun a few years ago, and that thing was a boat! I'm a big guy and running around with that thing was wearing me out. The stock SASS definetly needs a diet.

Mark can you do these for RRA 308's and still have the ability to attach a couple of 3in rails on the end?

Mark can you do these for RRA 308's and still have the ability to attach a couple of 3in rails on the end? Honestly I don't know of the top of my head if the RRA barrel nut has the same thread pattern on the barrel nut or not. Will have to look into that. Rails are pretty simple. We have been supplying our handguards with 3 holes, 3, 6, and 9 O'clock, for mounting of studs, rails, etc.
MarkCO
The production DPMS Feather Handguards will be shipping next week. They do not fit the RRA .308 rifles. Edited February 28, 2012 by MarkCO
