JFlowers
For my ICORE Classic and USPSA backup's backup, I have a 6" 357 Magnum which I run with SL Variant Speedloaders. The cylinder is recessed for the case rims. So my question is ... If I chamfer the cylinders, will I mess up the rim recesses? Or is it a matter of just keeping the chamfer fairly light? I have a 38/357 guide and chamfer tool.
Toolguy
First of all, remove the extractor before chamfering. You can do a light edge break on the extractor, but more than that will compromise the extracting ability. As far as the ledge around the outside, you can chamfer big and make use of that additional material to make a bigger funnel. If you want to keep it original you will have to go light. JFlowers
But since the cases are not held in place by a moonclip, if I over-chamfer won't that allow the case to go deeper into the cylinder and cause ignition issues?
Toolguy
The extractor will maintain headspace even if the rest is fairly big. Don't go crazy deep on it, but you can have a pretty good chamfer. Edited February 14, 2012 by Toolguy
