9146gt
What is the best method to get my RX filled for shooting glasses? I mainly shoot iron sights but do shoot some Bullseye with a red dot .22. Does the manufacturer change my RX so I can see the front sight or dot clearly? Looks like I may need two differents sets of glasses. Tom
shootingchef
Lots of questions you have to answer before you get your RX. what do you need a rx for? far or near. some eye guys will let you bring your pistol with you and measure the distance you need to focus at to see the front sight. I am nearsighted so my Rx is for far away. I use the Rudy RX inserts in my Magster and Rydons. I very pleased with them so far. To each his own though. The ability to change lenses based on light conditions is a very important issue to me. Rudy's RX inserts are perfect for that purpose. Jim Norman
I'll second the Rudys. I took my slide in to the eye Dr. Focused on the front sight. Can't shoot bullseye as the targets are just too too blury, but action is fine. Next step for me is Cataract surgery, probably two years.
tomgen
I use what are called "occupational" lens. They have 3 sections, a bi-focal (near vision) on the bottom and the top, with distant vision in the middle. I just look through the top lens to see my front sights. The targets are blurred, but I should be looking there anyway. I had the near focus set at distance equal to where my sight would be. I had them tinted a pale yellow. If I need anything darker, I use clip-on sun lenses. TG
lmccrock
I was looking real close at Rudy's, but apparently the inserts only correct to -7 and I am just beyond that. BTW, I never saw it on the website. Their print catalog at the optician had the info.
walter hornby
look at the Rudy Exceptions. you can have your own optometrist install your prescription in the R/X portion.
Fenrir
I use ESS Ice glasses with their inserts. I had my local eye doctor fill the prescription for the inserts but ESS if you know your prescription can do it for you. Works pretty well for me, and ESS makes the frames thin on the sides so it fits better if you wear ear muffs or a knit cap while your shooting.
