Luv2rideWV
I have a S&A magwell on my SA 1911, and the Hogue Rosewood grips that I had been using were pretty and looked like the gun came that way from the factory - NO GAP. I recently tried a rubber set of Hogue grips with finger grooves that fit my hand better, index on the target better, and aid in my consistency - I LIKE THE GRIPS. However, the gap between the magwell and grips is UGLY - it makes the gun look terrible. Is there a similar set of grips that fills the gap? Is there a different magwell that would minimaze the ugliness? If I have to choose, I'll choose to shoot better and live with the ugly, but does anyone have a better solution? co-exprs
You can add a Pierce finger groove grip panel and then put on whatever wood grip panels you choose. Get flat bottom grip panels to match your magwell. The rubber side panels on the Pierce unit are very slim and don't bump the overall grip thickness out much. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/799381/pearce-rubber-finger-groove-insert-grip-1911-government-commander-black
Craig N
They make full size grips for magwells. They are a little longer than regular. I'm not sure if Hogues makes anything like that but VZ Grips has some great pictures to see the difference in them.

leas327
Here is my Kimber with a pearce finger groove grip adapter, Esmerelda flat bottom magwell grips, and a SA magwell. These grips stick out a little past the magwell with the grip adapter on. But they are thicker than the stock Rosewood grips that came with the gun. edit to resize pics Edited February 9, 2012 by leas327
hax
Get the Pearce finger groves then sand down the inside of wood grips to make it feel like before.

Thanks for the help, guys. This looks like the most reasonable solution so far.
