sparks1
Here we go...shell caddies. new to game and thinking of shell caddies. I have small hands and find it hard to handle 4 shells during a reload. Would the experienced SG guys here recommend 3x3 or a 6 shell caddy? And why. Or is it just a matter of practice to handle 4 shells at a time? Thanks Edited February 7, 2012 by sparks1
eringobragh
I have what I consider to be small hands as well. Using CCW four round caddies I can regularly load eight shells at or under 7 seconds. I've been practicing and broke a few 6.5 seconds tonight. Still wondering if my hand size is holding me back, need more practice, or go to the Load 2 system.

I like the 4x4 caddie system the best. http://www.samson-mfg.com/ar-15_html/product/APSC-X.html You can also get them as 3x3. However since I got the load 2 vest I rarely use them. davehorn
I'm sort of in the same boat, trying to start shooting more 3 gun, but not sure about how I want to load the shotgun. I also have smaller hands and sometimes fumble with 4 shells at a time. I have several of the CCW 4 shell caddies, and was considering going to the AP 3x3, but I've found something that's helped me get used to grabbing four. For the past two weeks, I've kept 4 shotgun shells in the cup holder in my truck, whenever I'm driving around, I keep them in one hand and move them around/ re-position them for loading. It's definitely helped the dexterity in my fingers. I haven't been able to track my load times, but I know they have improved. I think the 4 shell caddie (or 4x4) is the way to go. BTW, if you have a gut, or even minimal dunlap (my blood type is gravy) the six round caddies are pretty uncomfortable to wear.
TRUBL
yep....practice, practice, practice. You'll get used to loading 4 at a time. My 16yo son has been practicing for about a month now. At first I could beat him on the load 8 thing....now he is kicking my butt. Sooooo (shhhhh)....I've been practicing. My goal is to make him look silly. Ain't competition grand??? 4x4's are great!! I am really begining to like them alot!!

TRUBL
He's already beating me badly at Ruger Rimfire.....so much so that I am no longer shooting in his division. If he's on, he'll kick my butt. Tim
