Shipping Charges

Over the weekend, I was looking for a good price on something and I ran across a mention in another forum that a large online retailer who I'll call B would give a discount to active and retired military and law. Well I already had an account with B but seldom bought anything if I could find it somewhere else because they were typically more expensive. I checked my account and couldn't find a way to mark my account as retired military. So I started a new account and could do it there - probably something that was added after I started my account.

Anyhow, I went to check on the item I wanted and the price at B was now something like $62.15 down from $70.00 - strange discount. I decided to check on a couple items I had on my wishlist at M and they were either not available at B or had a higher price. So, I went to check out and found that for this one item, which would fit in a small flat rate postage container, B wanted me to pay $12.95 in shipping - ground shipping at that. I already knew that I could get it from the maker for $75 shipped so I was darned if I was going to give B one penny more.

This is not the first time I've seen inflated shipping charges, but I've rarely seen anything as blatant as charging $12.95 for a package that would cost me $5.00 to send.
