Aglifter
S&W 41 or a 2011 lower and a Marvel or Tac-Sol conversion kit? (Any significant differences between the conversion kits?
ParaGunner
Be different. Go with a GSG1911 pistol with a C-more on top. It would even be cheaper than anything else.
OzzieF
I had a 2011 bottom and tac - sol upper. I really liked the combination. I got to practice with the same trigger and worked with my indexing at a much reduced price. Only bad thing is the cost of magazines for the double stack. mbopp
If I were to build an open .22 it would be a Ruger MKII with VQ & Tac-Sol parts.
AzShooter
I like my Glock 17 with the Tac Sol conversion. Works great and you can now get 25 round magazines. You've got to be careful when loading the magazines but that will keep you running the gun forever during practice and matches. I have 3000 rounds though mine now without a jam. remoandiris
What is the purpose of the gun? Plinking? Fun? Or is it to TRAIN as closely as possible to your open gun at a much cheaper ammo price? If TRAINING, use a frame, trigger, safeties, thumbrest, etc., as close as possible to your match gun. The conversion kit is up to you.
40S&W
My .22 Open is a Mod 41. IMHO it is the best & most reliable .22 around, very accurate & goes bang all the time. I use CCI SV 40gr. lead RN. If you want to go cheap then that's another story.
gng4life
My main gun for Steel Challenge is my M41. Love the feel and weight along with the reliability. Like previously mentioned, if it's for training with your Open gun, then go with a 2011 lower (if that is your main Open) with the .22 upper. warpspeed
I had a Buckmark with a Cmore that I used for quite some time. I've picked up a Advantage Arms conversion for my G17 and the couple of time I had it out it has run great. Most 22s have ammo issues. That is to say they prefer one brand over another for reliability. Most seem to like the hotter loads.
