The_Vigilante
Can I run a 9mm barrel in this pistol?
Will_M
Not without also getting a new slide, extractor, and maybe ejector.
shootin-blanks
Saw one today.. running Aftec extractor and new fitted 9mm barrel, STI 38 super mags with spacer..says it runs perfect.. STI 40 slide, didn't ask which ejector, but he said he didn't change it to run the 9's..
The_Vigilante
Would it be necessary to use the 38 Super mags w/spacer instead of 9mm magazines?
mildot1
I use 38 super mags with spacers for 9mm, standard practice to my knowledge.
sfinney
Factory STI mags for 9mm are 38 Super mags with spacers. The breachface between 9 and 40 is close enough where this can be made to work, but you may need to do some serious extractor tuning. The ejector for .40 and 9/38 are same part usually. Extractors are usually for 38/40 when you buy them, except for AFTEC, those are caliber specific. Get the barrel fit, buy a 9mm mag, and go shoot it. Tune accordingly.
