Benelli Chick
We are happy to announce, that as we begin our second full year of “local” matches at the NRA Whittington Center, we will be having an RO clinic on March 31 followed by a match on April 1. This is the weekend AFTER Superstition! In the past, we have given RO cards out at Rocky Mountain 3-Gun for pure experience, but as we have a number of newer people wanting to join the RO ranks, we thought it was time for some sort of class for IMGA type matches. We will be mostly talking about RM3G and the HE-MAN Championship rules, but will talk about other general differences for some other IMGA matches. The RO clinic will focus, not just on how to run a shooter, but on how to run a stage. At matches like Rocky Mountain or the He-Man Championship, RO’s need to be more self sufficient than at matches where all the stages are next door to each other in berms. We will cover setting up a stage, vetting a stage, keeping the stage running, repairing targets, briefing the stage and all those other idiosyncrasies that come up in 3-Gun: pre-loading shotguns, safety areas that are not permanent, different 180’s etc. On Mar 31, there will be a couple hours of sitting and getting, and then we’ll go out, vet and work on the actual stages from the match the next day. We will also shoot part of them while we practice ROing. Then, on April 1, the RO’s from the class will be dedicated RO’s for a squad for the match. They will run the clock and board AND finish up any stages they didn’t get to shoot the day before! Everyone who finishes the 2 day class successfully will get a Rocky Mountain 3-Gun RO in-training card, and then their permanent RO card, after successfully working one of our matches. If you’ve RO’d for us before, but would like a little refresher or want to work your way to being a CRO, feel free to join us as well! We think it will be a very informative and helpful clinic! RO Clinic cost is $40 for the match and clinic (two days). The April 1 match alone is $30 as usual. We're asking clinic participants to e-mail us to let us know they plan to attend so we have enough materials available! You may e-mail us at rm3gun@yahoo.com or johnson3gun@earthlink.net See you on the range! Denise
Jesse Tischauser
Great idea! If you come up with a good outline I'd love a copy.
Benelli Chick
We've got one, but we'll just have to see! Seriously, we're still working on it. Want it to be really good and want to try it once before we send it out to folks! I'm not as confident as that Stealthy Blagga Guy! I gotta try it first! Scout454
Denise, A favor please? When you are finished, would you kindly forward your outline and course particulars, curriculum etc, to me? I'd like to combine it with what we use here for the Pro-Am, FN, etc in the hope that we can come up with a course outline (and eventually rules) that we can all work with. Thanks, Mike

Benelli Chick
Just a little BUMP! This is just about a month away! It should be fun and informative! Denise
mlmiller1
Denise, I am looking forward to this class/match. I do have a couple of questions. Once you get to the NRA whittington, will it be hard to find where we need to be? What time do I need to be there Saturday morning? Thanks, MLM
Benelli Chick
I'll send out a note later, but right now it looks like 9am at the pistol berms. Just ask at the gate when you sign in...it should be easy to find! We may change location as we get closer and get some info where we can find a nice place to meet, but for now. This will work! See you soon! Denise
Benelli Chick
Just a reminder about the RO clinic on March 31 at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton, NM. Our plan is to start at 9am at the shotgun building. We’ll have a while of sit and get and then head out to the range to debrief and finalize the stages for Johnson 3-Gun at Rocky Mountain’s first match of the year on April 1. Please bring your guns with you on Saturday as all of you will get to shoot at least one stage from Sunday’s match while we all practice ROing! If there are any changes in where we meet, I will post the information at the main gate of Whittington! Hope to see you there! If you haven't already, let me know if you plan to come, so I can get enough materials ready!
mlmiller1
Denise, I've never been to the whittington center, do you show ID or pay a fee or anything to get in? You said once you have to check in with the guy at the gate so I thought I would ask. Also, will they be able to direct me to the shotgun building? Thanks, see you guys in a couple of weeks. Benelli Chick
As you drive into the Center, there is a gatehouse. They ask you to sign in, just so they know who's there and where they're going to be shooting or whatever. No fee. They have maps and will give you great directions, but basically, you head in on the entrance road and turn right at the first turn. (Edited to add: The first road, not the turn to the Sante Fe trail statue.) I'm just putting together the packets for the Clinic right now! See you soon! mlmiller1
Ok, plans are holding, no major malfunctions yet. I will try to be at the shotgun building at 9am with guns,(so we can all demonstrate our r.o. prowess on Saturday). Looking forward to it, now all I need to do is load ammo, change scope & zero, gather gear, change underwear ( ) pack all this stuff & be pointed that way on Friday. See y'all then! Benelli Chick
We're in Albuquerque and will get to the range tomorrow! Plan on scoping out stages for JP RM3G and He-Man AND set up 5 somewhat evil stages for the Sunday match as a practice stages for this class... Everybody gets to shoot, too! We'll see you all in the shotgun building! Should be fun as well as interesting! Got lots of input/ideas/pros/cons while at SMM3G, so should be a lot of good stuff! Benelli Chick
Looks like the class may spend the sit and get time in the Ajax Classroom. I'll leave a sign at the gate! If it is, you just go straight on the main road in until it dead ends, turn left and then take your first right! It'll be a lot more comfortable for us. Take care and see you soon! mlmiller1
Ok, so we look for the sign that says "R.O. class" & ask directions?
RiggerJJ
You will have to check in at the front gate, so the staff there will point you in the right direction. Ajax classroom is about a mile from the front gate, go down the main road to the T, turn left, take the 1st right... jj
