Sarge
Well, the kids are gone and we are going to do some traveling each year from now on. This summer we are going to head to Niagra Falls. Looking for some pointers from those who may have recently been there. My FAQ's: Hotels? Eats? Tours? How many days? Jammer1911
There is a lot to do in Niagara Falls. On the Canadian side you can see Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum, Hard Rock Hotel, Spanish Aero Car, The Whirlpool, Niagara River Jet Boat Ride, Maid of the Mist. American side is Cave of the Winds, Three Sister Islands. I would recomend staying on the US side for hotel/motel due to exchange rate. Also you are only an hour 20 minutes from Toronto (Plays, cultural event. 30 minutes from Buffalo - SHea's Theater and the theater District Adam's Mark Hotel. Hi-Power Jack
Sarge, a lot of wineries in the area (Niagara Escarpment on the Canadian side) and Finger Lakes wineries (100+) on the American side. Some spectacular scenery and beautiful wineries & some very nice wines. Have fun. Jack
Jammer1911
Yes I forgot about all the Wineries and many new casinos. Forgot to mention lived in Western New York including Niagara Falls and Buffalo a majority of my adult life. Beware that NY State is NOT kind to Non residents carrying Pistolos either is Canada. (Just Sayin) You'll enjoy the area otherwise. And if you want more to see there is the finger lakes region and Letchworth state park (Grand Canyon of the east) Edited January 21, 2012 by Jammer1911
XD Niner
Definitely the Canadian side of the Falls. Also, nearby Niagra-on-the-Lake for some great wineries. The Niagra Falls Whirlpool Jet Boat ride is a hoot! One day at the Falls if not doing the jet boat ride is sufficient. Drive another 75 minutes and come to Toronto for another several days. Aircooled6racer
Hello: Bring a change of cloths if you go on the jet boat. We went and we all get very wet and had a blast. Go to Toronto and see the CN Tower, Science Center, Zoo and Ontario Place. The ROM musuem and Young street at night time Toronto is my old home town 19 years ago but is a very big city now. There is lots of great things to do in Ontario. Para used to be there but have moved I guess now. Another thing is go during the summer since the weather is alot nicer and you may be able to catch a road race at Mosport. Thanks, Eric
mikegot38
I know you are going in summer but if you go this time of year they have a Winter Fesival (or at least they did when we traveled there a lot in the 90s). If you like hockey, the Hockey Hall of Fame is in Toronto. Right now the exchange rate stinks. Buy all of you gas in the US!!

Tiny Warrior
Ya, if you could get to Toronto, do it! It's a world of its own. Definitely recommend dinner at the CN Tower....make a reservation to sit by a window!!
kevin c
We stayed on the Canadian side, but liked the viewing platform on the American side better (Nothing like standing under the water and screaming my head off with my 20 year old son, in the exact same spot I did the same back in college). Maid of the Mists, definitely.
XD Niner
Toronto Indy Road Race on the streets down by the lakeshore. July 6-8. It's a great three days of racing.
