KungFuNerd
I've got a G17 in a Comptac Paddle. I've got the Tension Screw set where it isn't TIGHT but the is a definite 'Catch' when you Holster/Draw. I can shake the Holster and jump up and down without it coming loose. I probably wouldn't want to do a Handstand though. For me, Handstands arent a part of my 'daily activities'. Is there some kind of Litmus Test for Holster tension other than that brief sentence in the Rule book? thanks, KFN
Steve Koski
No prescribed test. If you're happy with it, you're fine. So long as the gun isn't rattling out of the holster as you walk around the range, or run for a few steps on a stage. Koski

KungFuNerd
Good to hear. Unless the tension is pretty loose I've had a hard time getting the draw to be consistent. Maybe a combination of my Draw angle and how I Reholstered. Experimenting with it. I just didn't want to get used to 'cheating'. This paddle is already so much easier than IWB or a Serpa... KungFuNerd
Serpa? You'll blow your leg off! ah...so you saw myYouTube video? Seriously about the Serpa though.... The 'flaw' is that if you miss the Release and try to draw. It then gets stuck until you push the gun back down and hit the release. THAT might cause you to put you finger in the wrong place. So no...I don't like the Serpa because sometimes you don't quite engage the release. Oh yeah...I heard that Glocks were dangerous too
Outsydlooknin75
Rip the lock tab off the serpa and there is still plenty of retention and no need to have your finger there. Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk

KungFuNerd
Rip the lock tab off the serpa and there is still plenty of retention and no need to have your finger there. Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk I will probably do that. That mod would make it "Illegal" for competition though wouldn't it? EDIT Maybe read somewhere else that "retention devices must be used if they are there"... Am I making that up? Can't find it in the rule book Edited January 7, 2012 by KungFuNerd

twodownzero
If I can't shake the gun upside down without it coming out of the holster, it's too loose.
Outsydlooknin75
Glocks blow up with reloads. It's true! Don't tell that to my 17, its seen over 5k of my reloads and NEVER seen a factory loaded round. Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk

Can't find it in the rule book USPSA says if it has a retention strap it must be fastened prior to starting, IF its equipped. Take the lock tab out and its no longer equipped. KungFuNerd
Thanks for that. This is for a different Pistol and now I don't have to replace the Holster. I also trimmed the little 'cleat' back that holds it onto your pants (not the belt tabs). It was REALLY hard to get this holster off without taking off your pants...
