Ahab
I set up a pseudo-classifier last night to see how I've progressed. When I went for 5-gun master in 2010, I shot the classifier all the time. Then in 2011 I didn't shoot it all, because I was pretty burned out on it. My best time from spending hours practicing the classifier was 86.08 in 2010. This isn't an actual classifier because the target heights are wrong, but everything else was correct. Total time: 86.84, and I shot it cold. I arrived at the range, set it up, and got to work shooting it. No warm ups. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLPHLC3iKKY Some thoughts: apparently firing 30,000+ rounds in 2011 did make me better, because there's no way I could have done this a year ago. Merlin Orr
The crew at my range would be ragging you about moving the barrel to shoot...... Or at least they sure rag ME about it... Nice and controlled. How much were you down on each part?
Ahab
-3 on stage 1, -6 on stage 2, and -7 on stage 3. I should have been better on stage 2. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "moving the barrel to shoot".
Merlin Orr
When I shoot around plastic barrels I have a tendency to lean into the barrels and they "tilt" away from the pressure - as you did on the 3rd part of the Classifier. Kinda rock the barrel over sideways..... Not to take anything away from your performance......! Looked really nice to me! waktasz
Interesting that you prefer to shoot around the left side of the barricade on Stage 3 string 2. That is what I'm worst at.
Ahab
I haven't always done that; I used to prefer to go around the right side. But I've spent so much time practicing with my left foot forward and weight biased in that direction that it's now easier for me to draw to that position and then transition to the right side after the load. Paul-the new guy
Nice! Thanks for posting that. I had a dismal run last month... name score pd nt pe fn stage 1 stage 2 stage 3 Paul M 142.56 35 0 0 0 55.28(5) 35.55(13) 51.73(17) I finished 23rd out of 42 on stage 1.... I dropped a mag I finished 4th out of 42 on stage 2 I was riding the slide lock and the slide locked back 4 or 5 times. I finished 1st out of 42 on stage 3 even though I slid and almost busted my butt on the second string I also go to the left when given a choice... kind of strange since I am right handed... Ahab
RE: the barrel - it's actually a forced perspective trick, I'm not even touching the barrel on string 3 of stage 3, but the way the camera is positioned it looks like I am. Plus, the muzzle blast of the MIGHTY .45 ACP makes it run in terror.

Ahab
You bet - this was originally filmed for an episode of IDPA.tv, but got cut because the weird "blam" noise from the gun.
lugnut
That's a good run especially the points down on stage 3! I have a Gen 3 21SF- they are amazing guns IMO aren't they? Question though. I also usually shoot left to right... except when I am shooting strong hand (unless the COF says otherwise). If you notice on your strong hand shots- the recoil is actually pushing you up and left.... why fight it... go right to left strong hand. The opposite holds true for weak hand- which is the way you did it. Might not be huge but I think it helps. Have you tried that? Same when shooting high to low (not in your vid at all). It makes more sense for me to go low to high whenever I can. I've seen so many people shot high to low.
Ahab
I've honestly never thought of doing it that way with the strong hand only stuff. I usually shoot left to right because with two hands I'm faster moving towards the right than vice versa.
