earplug
On the new style hammers I have had a hard time installing the DA sear spring without kinking it. Does anyone have a good way to mess with this spring?
Toolguy
Put it in the hole in the sear and compress it with a small screwdriver or X-acto knife blade as you slide the sear into the hammer. Look through the slot on the other side to make sure it's correctly seated before compressing the sear. If not, scoot it into place with the tip of the tool. Gregg K
Put it in the hole in the sear and compress it with a small screwdriver or X-acto knife blade as you slide the sear into the hammer. That's funny. My improvised tool of choice for that tiny spring is an X-acto knife with a number 11 blade. I also have a few new springs in a bag from Brownells when they decide to pop out and go on vacation.
earplug
I have been messing with a dental tool and trying to keep the parts in a plastic bag. The knife blade makes sense. My garage has one firing pin, A retaining pin, a side plate screw, a new style main spring stirrup and that's not counting the fishing reel parts.
