REL1203
So i bought an M&P Pro 9mm, and it came with Apex DCAEK installed. This gun is going to be purely an IDPA SSP gun. I havent owned an M&P Pro before to compare how it was pre- DCAEK, but I dont love the trigger, it seems a tiny bit mushy now. Is the Apex Comp AEK something I should look into getting installed and taking out the DCAEK? I cant really figure out what the different parts from the DCAEK to the Comp AEK (Looks like they both use the Hard sear (same Hard sear?), the USB), but the Comp them comes with some other stuff that I dont have (Wonder if I can just order those parts). I still have the Stock sear (and some type of spring). Love the gun, just not the trigger, but need to keep it IDPA SSP legal. Any help? You can also put the stock trigger return spring in to lighten it to between comp and DC. The trigger return springs from lightest to heaviest are Apex Comp -> stock -> Apek Duty. I have my M&P set up with CompAEK except using the stock trigger return spring. This yields a pull weight around 4 lbs. I think the 2.5lb pull with the comp trigger return spring gives up too much in reset feel to be worth the lighter weight. MGMorden
I think the 2.5lb pull with the comp trigger return spring gives up too much in reset feel to be worth the lighter weight. Have you tried the Apex RAM? Regardless of the pull weight it gives you a VERY nice positive reset. To the OP: I haven't really tried the regular DCAEK, only the CAEK, and I love that, but truthfully I don't see how it would change the FEEL of the trigger - just the weight. If you are unhappy with the trigger feel you might try swapping the Pro-sear back in. I know that the Apex sear is worlds better than the plain old M&P Sear, but though I've shot one, I haven't got enough trigger time on a Pro-sear to know how much different it feels. If that doesn't work, you might look into sending off to Dan Burwell for a profession trigger job. That'll keep it legal and it supposed to be even better than the Apex AEK's. Of course, if the Apex FSS kit was legal this would be a whole 'nother matter . Edited December 30, 2011 by MGMorden

RWF
dan does a great job with factory parts, and i do agree on 2.5# trigger did not like, not so much the reset but to me, it did not break the shot, just a soft trigger, not crisp. but for what ever reason 2.75# trigger he does is very nice and you can still know and feel the trigger break for a nice aimed shot with the sights, that's if you use them! it seems like i always forget that i have them. REL1203
i am planning on getting the RAM for mine as soon as my LGS gets it back in stock, should be nice, i just dont love how far you have to get it to go once it gets past the Pre-Travel part, to where it actually breaks, just seems longer than I had anticipated, but then again I am used to my ESP XDM with a Powder River Ultimate Performance trigger kit. I am gonna go put another 150 rounds through it tomorrow morning, the new Sear only has 50 rounds through it so far and hopefully after breaking in some more, it might improve. Does any one know if Apex offers a kit thats just the upgrade parts? 2.5lnb trigger on a pure IDPA only gun could be useful.
lugnut
I will say that the Apex Comp kit is a truly amazing kit considering it's all just drop in parts.
Philip Dedmon
Are you guys doing any polishing of parts when you install the APEX Comp Kit?

It's not the reset itself; the RAM does give a solid satisfying click. It's that the trigger doesn't push forward hard enough. When I reset the trigger, I feel like I'm waiting on it to go forward. When tweaking a striker fired gun- that is the trade off for getting a real light trigger. I also generally like the more affirmative reset that a stronger spring gets you. I think you can get used to the softer reset but it's an odd thing when you aren't used to it.

C2payne
Does adding the RAM push the gun to ESP or is it still SSP?
