40S&W
What I'm looking for is a minor load (lower the better) that will produce enough gas to operate the T2 comp, using a 124gr. bullet (FMJ or CMJ). At present running an 8 lb. recoil spring. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Sarge
Good luck. Some guns work doing this I guess but my Open gun with Bedell comp and an 8lb spring won't even cycle with my minor loads.
DyNo!
HS-6 is the answer. It generates enough gas to work the comp.
Hi-Power Jack
I'm looking for minor load that will produce enough gas to operate the T2 comp, using a 124gr. bullet (FMJ or CMJ). You might want to try a lighter bullet - more velocity - more gas?? With HS6. 115 gr or even lighter? Good luck, Jack
DougCarden
Try W231 or Solo 1000. Load for a 135-140 PF and try a 6-8lb spring. For minor steel forget about running the comp.... Do not use Small rifle primers, you will erode the breechface. Your better accuracy will be around 1.130-1.150, depending on your gun. Work it up and go slow... 40S&W
Guys: The gun's 9mm top-end was built for 9mm minor. I have been loading Berry Plated 115gr. RN with Titegroup. Just need something better than what I've been loading. Titegroup is just too snappy. I shoot in a Steel League and also shoot the PSA Shootout, other steel events, and Run & Gun Matches. When I shoot Steel Challenge I shoot 38SC. I have two different top-ends for my TRI (when Vergil Tripp owned it, now known as STI).
1SOW
The gun's 9mm top-end was built for 9mm minor. I have been loading Berry Plated 115gr. RN with Titegroup. Just need something better than what I've been loading. Titegroup is just too snappy. There are a lot of 9mm minor loads if you do a search. CZ 4.72" bbl: Vit n320 shoots cleaner and softer than Titegroup. For the M.G. 124 CMJ @ 1.132, 4.1grs gave me around 130PF (Going from memory, so work up) If you used Berry's, you should really try the 124 TS HBRN over 4.1 grs of n320 at 1.135, 129PF and shoots to POA. This same bullet (TS=Thick plating) is designed for 1450'/min in 38Super. Not enough gas for a comp, but soft shooting. ammowaster
Do not use Small rifle primers, you will erode the breechface. Is that because it is a lighter load? When is it okay to use the SR in 9mm and 40?
DougCarden
At lower power factors the pressure is not high enough for the primer to seal to the case with rifle primers (tougher cup for higher pressure). This allows the gas to exit around the primer, eventually eroding the breechface of the slide around the firing pin hole. Higher pressure 9mm and .40 loads work well with rifle primers if you are loading to major. Hope this helps, DougC
