G17fan
Merry Christmas everyone.... Question, is it necessary to apply locktite when installing a new sight? Thanks.
Pop N Fresh
if you plan on shooting it then yes
ben b.
Better to peen so it's tight, IMO. I don't trust the glue.

twodownzero
Better to peen so it's tight, IMO. I don't trust the glue. I am sorry... What do you mean by "peen"? Dimple the sight so it fits nice and tight. I've never found it necessary, though. My dovetail sights all fit very tightly except for my STI, which has a roll pin holding it in (from the factory). Loctite isn't really meant to help an interference fit, except for the Loctite designed for sleeves.
dirty whiteboy
I put a set screw on mine, too many bullets down range with a loose front sight!
Aircooled6racer
Hello: If it is on a Glock use Blue Loctite on the threads. If on a 1911 with a dovetail use red. I also like to install a setscrew in the dovetail front sights. I use a 2-56 setscrew just for added security. Thanks, Eric
G17fan
What the correct loctite to use?
blind bat
Do a search on youtube. Dawson has some excellent walk throughs on sight install.
Roaddog77
What the correct loctite to use? On the front dovetail id use a higher temp one due to the heat at muzzle. I use a high temp red that I have a stockpile of from when I was a tech working on trucks. Rear sights I use a green that is 640? I believe. Thing is on my sti when I installed my dawsons I did it where they were snug. I don't think they will go anywhere.
bigbear
I used blue locktite on the front sight i put on my glock
EkuJustice
Used red on my glock front as I had it loosen up with blue. If I need it off, a sodering iron on the screw and turn and out it comes
blind bat
I believe Dawson recommends Locktite 620. It's mentioned in one of their YouTube videos.
