coyote4x4
I got them here: http://www.srstactical.com/communications/electronic-ambient-listening-headsets/msa-sordin-supreme-pro*x/75302*x.html Pretty much the only place on line that had the pro x. Sarge
So Sarge, I just saw your "for sale" ad. Didn't like them? I ended up paying $308, including shipping. I'll be honest. I love them as far as noise reduction and being able to talk etc while shooting is going on. However they don't like me. I wear a 7 5/8 hat size and basically have big ole friggin' ears. My ears hurt for two hours after I took them off for only wearing them for 2 hours. I'm going to try something else, I just don't know what yet. Mokken
Have the same setup, they are nice and very comfortable and not that bad in the dead of a Geogia summer. My Pro Ears are good, but my MSAs with gel cups are so much nicer.

Well do please post your findings, I wear the same size hat and have gianormous ears, so this is very relevant to me.
Sc0
Been following this discussion and wear a 7.75" hat. Brownells has the Swat-Tac II's on sale for $249 or so, unfortunately the one I received was defective and the right side did not work so am waiting on the replacement. These combined with the Gel pads should be nice? I was looking at the ear-plug variety but ear muff types are nice when it's cold and the wind blows, not to mention cheaper and use common batteries. Sarge
Well, I bought some of the Pro Ears passive ultra 28's. They way almost half of what the mag gold 33's did and I'm sure they will protect just fine. I have molded plugs if needed as well. For now I am tired of chasing the magic ear muffs. Time to just shoot.
doubleforte78
I'm a professional musician and I'm very careful with my hearing protection. I went to an ENT specialist and had some custom plugs made with filters. They were ok but the custom plugs I had made by a earinc.com rep at a match are the greatest thing ever. RaylanGivens
I know this thread is old, but it has some great information about electronic ear muffs... I am also trying to decide between the MSA Sordin Supreme ProX and the Pro Ears Pro Mag Gold... I'm leaning towards the MSA ProX muffs because several of you have preferred them and because they seem to be more comfortable that the Pro Ears muffs. I have a set of Howard Leight Impact Sports muffs... I'm currently using a set of custom ear plugs without muffs, but would like to add electronic muffs for ROing and to protect the bones behind my ear. I'm also leaning towards the ProX because I live in Florida and we shoot in the rain... Seems that they are also more comfortable... I want to start double-plugging when I shoot... Sarge - are you still using the passive muffs? ...or did you try another, different set of electronic muffs?
Sarge
Still passive. I know there good muffs out there but they just don't seem to protect hearing as good as passives.
JWeber
I have had a pair of MSA Sordin Supreme Muffs for three years now. Get the gel inserts. They seal against your glasses very well. I have never tried Pro Ears so I can't make a comparison. Battery life is real good but are tricky to change. I am happy with my choice. BeerBaron
I like the electronic Leight Impact Sport muffs my wife got me for my birthday last month. It seems many folks around here do as well, as every match I see four or five others wearing them. They are also only around $50 from Amazon.com. They are low-pro and pretty comfortable over hat and glasses. I am going to try a pair of aviation gel seals and see if they fit. I can see why people who haven't used electronic muffs before may like the howard leight impact sports. but honestly, they are $50 because they are worth $50... they are definitely the absolute bottom end of muffs. cheaply made, cheap uncomfortable materials... electronics are basic at best. they are no where near enough protection for someone shooting an open gun. I would otherwise recommend the peltor tactical sports (not tactical 6 which are rubbish) and replace the standard cups with gel cups which enhance comfort and enhance the NRR too. but even with gel cups I feel you'd probably want a little more protection. I am not a big pro-ears fan but they don't have a lot of following in my country. and can be expensive here. if you find them comfortable then go for it. something 28NRR or above is probably the way to go.
