Canuck63
Hi all, a few days ago I posted a thread in the "General Gunsmithing" forum asking about the right way to remove the front sights fitted(and pinned) to some Les Baer slides. I got a few very informative replies and then contacted the factory to ask if they'd have sold me a couple of front sights and a magwell for my Concept V. Apart from the fact that when a customer approaches you with a kind and polite request a simple "Hi" would be VERY welcome ,especially if he's ponied up nearly US$ 10.000 (yes..LBs were THAT expensive in Italy!),they did reply that they couldn't ship anything outside the USoA without an export licence and that I'd have contacted Brownells to get what I needed! I've opted for a Techwell thanks to many members' positive feedbacks and I've been literally left on my own when I wrote LB again again asking about the right dovetail cut of the front sights! Is it an EGW...Novak....Kimber....Heinie....STI....Infinity...Smith & Wesson...Schmeisser...ErMa...Springfield...Tom...Jerry...Stan...Ollie one?I'm knee-deep in confusion and I cannot possibly order a boatload of front sights only to see which one will fit my slide(s),can I? Now I'm asking for your unvaluable help again...and I'm even ready to pay upfront to a compassionate sould willing to help me out buying those front sights for mne Stateside! Which dovetail cut is the right one? I love Les Baers but I seriously doubt I'll buy another should they be imported here again!I could have bought a "race-ready" Springfield TGO for the price of the Premier II ST and another SA for the price of the Concept V...or even a Wilson...I'm sure I'd have gotten a much better care! Brazos Custom
The Les Baer front sight is 0.330 x 65 degree x 0.075 deep. Anyone buying sights for you and shipping them out of the US without an export license can get in serious trouble because of the ITAR regulations. Going through Brownells or a distributor in Europe is your best bet.

Hi Bob, for starters thanks a million for your reply! Are US laws THAT restrictive? After all they're only front sights and not "vital parts"! I used to have your Lightning Rod sights fitted on all my Limited Guns....to bad you don't ship abroad anymore! Skydiver
Yes, US export restrictions can be that restrictive. Up until 1999, the following lines of source code could not be exported because it was considered "munitions": #!/bin/perl -sp0777i<X+d*lMLa^*lN%0]dsXx++lMlN/dsM0<j]dsj$/=unpack('H*',$_);$_=`echo 16dio\U$k"SK$/SM$n\EsN0p[lN*1lK[d2%Sa2/d0$^Ixp"|dc`;s/\W//g;$_=pack('H*',/((..)*)$/)

Thanks for being here guys! Cheers Manny
