oneadam12
My son is trying to get his 35 to run 100%, but it's having some feed issues. He has a lone wolf 6 port barrel and is shooting 180 gr bayou bullets. It seems that the rounds that don't feed are jamming into the top of the barrel. I just picked up a few Montana gold 180 round nose and am going to try that to see if it helps. Anyone have any similar issues?
oneadam12
I guess I should mention that we have a 35 setup for limited that runs the same load perfectly. Only difference is a stock barrel.
Solvability
I guess I should mention that we have a 35 setup for limited that runs the same load perfectly. Only difference is a stock barrel. Are the mags new - springs fresh in the mags = start with the mags.
oneadam12
Mags are the same that we run in the limited setup, but not new with the exception of 1. The new mag will not run any better than the other four.
Whitefish
Are you running a lighter recoil spring with the ported open barrel or using the same recoil spring as with the limited set-up? You may need to go to a lighter recoil spring with the ported barrel to get proper function and feeding. The ported barrel vents a tremendous amount of gas and therefore, energy and speed, that normally cycles the slide. That may cause your feeding issues - not enough energy left to properly cycle the slide, pick up the rounds from the mag, and get them into the chamber. I use a 15 pound recoil spring in my limited G35 with major loads and the function is perfect. My open glocks are 9's, not 40's, but the concept here is the same. My suggestion is to try a 13 or 14 pound recoil spring and see if that cures the feeding issue with the ported barrel.
oneadam12
You might be on to something there. I was thinking that maybe the spring we had in there was getting weak, but too strong actually makes more sense.
LPatterson
I would never ever bad mouth a single companies products but if I had a chance to change buying a barrel from a certain company I would do it in a heartbeat.
supreme135
I have run lot's of different barrels in my 35. The lone wolf is the only one I have seen issue with from time to time. It might just be that barrel in that gun.
oneadam12
Well, that would be just great. I guess I'll try a few different bullets, maybe a lighter spring first. If that won't get it, I suppose the barrel would be next. Any suggestions?
Blcksmk
I had major issues with my Lone Wolf G35 barrel. Couldn't get it to feed whatever I did. I bought a used factory barrel and all my problems were solved.
oneadam12
My son just ran 35 of the montana golds through it with no issues. I guess I'll load the other 65 and see how they run tomorrow.
392heminut
Before you give up on the barrel try a little polishing. Wrap some 600 grit wet-or-dry paper around a wood dowel and polish the upper part of the chamber (in and out motion, not twisting) and the point where the feedramp breaks over into the bottom of the chamber and see if that helps. oneadam12
Well, the remaining Montana gold rounds ran without a hitch. I guess I'll have to switch to those or something similar with a rounded nose. Anyone have any suggestions that I might try a few of before going all out? drglock
I have a glock 35 with a 4 ports in the barrel I used to run for open and had similar problems till I switched to a 11LB recoil spring. and +1 on polishing the feed ramp,I used a dremmel with a cloth wheel and flitz after I was done it looked like a mirror
Parallax3D
I'm shooting a G22 with a Lone Wolf barrel and a Carver comp. I use an 11# recoil spring, and I run lighter bullets. A lighter bullet moving faster will produce more gas and work the comp better. oneadam12
Well, we polished the ramp more and just a tad on the top of the inside of the barrel. I loaded some 155 gr bayou bullets to 1.125" and we only had one jam out of 170 rounds. I need to order a lighter spring from the sound of it. I think the one I have in it is a 14#.
