Matt Griffin
MRI on Friday to determine if I can go with arthroscopic tennis elbow treatment or if they have to carve a ligament out of my wrist to rebuild. I have to practice or I'll go crazy. Edited November 30, 2011 by Matt Griffin
Joe L
Matt--some people have a spare tendon in their forearm that can be used for repairs. I did and it was used to reconstruct my wrist...40 years ago! Good luck on Friday.

Matt Griffin
Must. . . shoot. Four weeks into recovery and the novelty has worn off. I did go and do some WHO shooting the other day, man is that hard. Six more weeks before I can do anything with my left hand.
Flexmoney
We shot our J-frames (me, Rausch & Anderson) SHO in a steel match at the end of the year. 5 plates... I'd hate to have to do that WHO. It would probably be good for me to do though. Six weeks more... Can you shoot some rifle or something?
Youngeyes
RIFLE?!! Man that's some cold stuff.

Benchrest shouldn't pose a problem, but if I went by the letter of the law regarding my arm it's pretty hard to charge the rifle. Let this be a lesson to everyone: If you have chronic tennis elbow don't let it go forever, it can eventually involve the rest of the elbow and put you in a much worse place. And don't try to shoot Geco ammo for a week straight with a factory trigger.
JFlowers
Matt, Keep up the therapy and I look forward to getting my butt kicked by a reformed cripple somewhere down the road!
Matt Griffin
In theory I'm back to "Normal activity" this week. In reality I'm still pretty stiff at full extension and flexion, and I'm not going to push the elbow for quite a while. I'm trying to come up with a more normal practice method; my days of hours of dryfire are gone. Still, I can hold a pistol again with strength, and that's a lot better than I could say previously. If the elbow continues to tighten up I might just have a good season. Scar pic!

Matt, just adopt the practice method used by Cliff and me.....drink and gamble and pick up a gun only when absolutely necessary. Matt Griffin
did the surgery work? i'm guessing i'm going down that path shortly. taking the pain is getting old. It seems to have worked, it has improved every day. There is still soreness when I grip at full extension, but in a shooting stance I have all of my strength. Mine was severe so they had to actually shorten the muscle and tie it back on, plus the elbow reconstruction, so I'm gradually lengthening the muscle with PT. If you are in the early stages of tennis elbow I highly recommend getting it fixed right now, they even have an arthroscopic procedure that is supposed to do quite a bit of good. Mike, the problem is that I want to do all that AND pick up the gun. I can't balance my hobbies!
Carmoney
Glad to hear the procedure is working. I had a little bout with tennis elbow a couple years ago. Between my shooting, racquetball, running the handle on my reloading press, and the internet porn, I wasn't really sure what was causing the trouble. I finally narrowed it down to playing too much Guitar Hero and Rock Band with Sam. Once we switched to Call of Duty it went away. (Seriously!) Matt Griffin
Sounds about right, Mike. I was shooting, lifting weights, had gotten back into golf, then bought a new house and had to move a few tons of gear by myself. You have to let it heal when it starts, otherwise it all goes to scar and you're screwed. Shot my first major ammo yesterday at the range. My arm was aching by the end of 100 rounds, but my accuracy is up from the training I've been doing and the arm feels even better today, so things are looking up. mikey357
TATTOO??? THAT ain't no TATTOO!!! THIS is a TATTOO!!!... ...but in all seriousness, I hope the RECOVERY continues to progress WELL!....mikey357
Matt Griffin
Oh yeah? Mine was billed at $18,000, top that! Shot another 120 rounds today at a good pace, and it feels even better. It may be that I'm all good and just in the muscle-stretching phase but I'm still being conservative. I still can't stabilize the sights perfectly during a rapid sequence, I'm not sure if that's a strength thing or a technique thing now that my arm doesn't bend quite the same.
